Haven't had a chance to get on :-(

I will try in the evening but half of the time I can't be bothered.
That's the spirit ;-)
Don't encourage him - I'd like to think I've managed to get myself into a decent position on this one although I seem to be going off a lot whilst trying to go quicker...

Finally managed to get a few laps in at Monza. My implant course is taking up a lot of time with reading. Happy to see that not too rusty and close to the quicker guys.

Mark. Are the handicaps going to be adjusted after each round. There still killing me.

I'm defo going to get on it tonight for a little bit.

As a request could the minimum round length be changed to say 10 days rather than 7 days? I struggle to get on with my new job...

To be fair, my handicap has probably given me more of a boost than it should have done on this one but I've just been focusing on trying to get as close to the quick guys as I could without the handicap on - and I'm the closest I've been in that respect

Some problem with the lap updater this afternoon.

Did quite a few laps but it only sent the 1st one, & none of the others, didn't realise until after ....so went back on again...same problem again. I entered my fastest lap manually, but then noticed it had sent through some data. Not sure what is going on so deleted times and re-entered fastest lap manually.!!!!

Anyway, its now showing my fastest lap correctly at 1.52.116

If this happens again have a look at the pclapupdater lap list. If it has sent the lap correctly there should be a green tick or circle (can't remember which) and if it fails there's a red circle. If you hover over the red circle it should tell you why it failed to send, it may be that you had turned on an invalid aid. Or it could just be that my broadband is playing up, I'm currently 70 miles from home so can't really tell.

Yup the handicaps will be adjusted as each trial finishes, so those of you who have put in times for future races, that's cool, but the time may adjust as the handicap gets amended after the previous trial finishes. Keeping up with all this, there'll be a test later......

It's a tricky one, 2 weeks seems too long, 1 week can make it feel like a bit of a drudge, and I like to finish it on the same day every week so everyone knows what the score is.

Let's stick with 1 week for this championship and we can have a 1 week or 2 week vote for the next one.

Yes, I spotted the red crosses, hence why I noted the problem but this was after the session finished. Didn't know I could see reason behind the red cross. Good to know :-). Can't have been invalid aid as I haven't changed anything on PS4 set-up and it did send some laps but not others. It oddly wasn't updating "best lap" on the PC either. Will have another play tomorrow and see if it works, and if not, provide a better explanation !!!

Done some laps.

Have to admit, the handicap needs sorting to make it more even for the faster and slower 20%. I'm sure the 80% in the middle is fine.

It's kind of swings and roundabouts, if you have a bad race then you don't get many points for that race but your handicap goes up for the following race. I've tried to dampen out the oscillation (do you like that, sounds like I know what I'm talking about) by discounting the 2 worst results but there's always going to be the possibility of a freak result.

For example if someone turns up and just does a token lap or two in one race (might hate the car or the track) and then for the next race puts in 50 laps they may end up 5 seconds ahead of everyone.

Overall, to win the much-prized virtual gold championship cup, consistency is the key :-)

I had a problem yesterday as well. Sent some laps but then got red crosses. Had to put it in manually.

If it's the top and bottom end causing issues how about this:

Would capping the handicap work? Max 10% maybe?

At the top if your handicap is anything from 0-1% it is just zeroed so that it's a straight fight?

Just to say, I had this tonight also, so there might be a problem. It sent first lap but nothing after. I'll have a look at it tomorrow to see if it gives any clues, but I think it simply didn't record subsequent laps. Will manually add my best lap tomorrow.

OK, so there may be a problem in paradise.

In theory, the only reason it wouldn't send a lap:-

1) Can't connect, either your broadband or my broadband. I've turned on a monitor that sees if I drop any packets at my end. Possible.
2) You're in the wrong car and on the wrong track. N/A, big red cross in the corner that you would have noticed and it wouldn't have sent the first lap.
3) Driving aids. I can't actually tell if you have an aid on or off, I can only tell from the data if it kicks in. So if any aid that you're not meant to have on triggers even for a millisecond then the lap doesn't get sent. Seems to be happening to too may people for this to be an option.
4) Something wrong with the code, most likely option, but also the trickiest to resolve.

So, we're into troubleshooting mode, and I need clues.....

Clue 1 :- Sends lap 1 and then subsequent laps fail to send

Any extra information anyone can give would be appreciated, especially the message on hover over the failed to send icon.

I had the same issue when I first started on on here on Sunday (PS4 if it matters) I started off with first lap (maybe 2) sent and didn't check after that, Upon finishing I noticed the subsequent laps, maybe another 10 or so, had red X's by them with the reason "invalid aid" or something to that effect. I thought it a little odd as I had not left the track at all, just restarted the session as I'd messed up early on in a lap.

As I'm a little green to this I went back to check that I had set everything up correctly in the game play options, sure enough it was set correctly to "real" however after a restart session I noticed I had ABS flashing (in game not just on the telemetry app). I went back in to the options and set it to all instead of real and disabled/enabled them all manually and it's worked fine for me since.

Hi Mark. Same issue today. See screen shot. This was consecutive laps on the game, no changes going on either in game or on the PC. It seems to "like" the first 6 laps then hasn't sent the next ones. I've updated my time manually.

Note that it also doesn't count the lap as PB as it thinks something illegal is going on......

Edited to add : sorry for upside down picture !!!

OK, sorry about this, I'll have to look at the code, if nothing else I'll add some more meaningful text on that hover so that we can get a bit more of a clue what is going on

No need to apologise Mark, you've done a great job setting all this up and I guess there is bound to be the odd technical hitch here and there!

I just added my best time from the Steam Leaderboard as I took 6 seconds off the first lap it reported. May be an issue though, it says I had all aids on on the leadeboard yet I have everything set to real. I checked in game it said N/A on stability control so I'm positive I was driving without that as the game won't allow it when real aids are on. So hopefully I was within the rules for this time smile
