I used to sponsor Tom Ingram when he was in his ginetta junior days. Nothing get big but he struggled from one race to the next on funding. His parents could not afford to buy his way in to motorsport and they grafted constantly to support him. He used to come on track days with us. Even as a teenager he was quick in any car he jumped in. Looking back at the vbox telemetry and comparing my laps to his he is amazingly smooth and carries so much corner speed.

I also prefer to watch on the TV but would like to get to one of the events this year. I reckon he has a chance at the title. This season he has race pace which the car was lacking in last year.

Another day another f-ing computer problem...

http://troubleshooter.xyz/wiki/fix-ethernet-doesnt...

I've tried everything suggested in this link but can't get a valid ip configuration, no bloody clue why it was fine last night. Ethernet drivers checked updated etc...can't wait for november I'm just getting fed up of this.

Edit: ok so TP link had stopped working, the computer can live to fight another day...

He has the consistency he's been lacking too - he's got an old head on young shoulders with his approach and its paying dividends at the moment.

I spoke to Tom a few weeks ago when he came into work to film this:

https://youtu.be/PjpEnPDKz0c

He showed me a video on his phone of a new simulator they've just installed that he uses for driver training, you should have a go Rex!

I'd love a proper simulator to play in...my father-in-law is retiring soon and is an engineer. I've told him his first project is a motion rig for me smile The mother in law has different ideas, but this is a man who has shadow boards for his tools in his garage, he won't be able to resist lol.

He's got to keep himself active in his retirement...

Do you remember the good old days when I picked the combinations. Jesus Mother of God, McLaren around the Nurburgring, it's a killer, I think the racing term is it's a bit squirrelly under braking.

Yeah I found that too, it just likes to go sideways, under braking, throttle, anything and it tries to go sideways lol, haven't tried it without driver aids yet, I dread to think what is like with them all turned off.

I just use ABS.
I love it, such a handful of a car.

See, now that's exactly what I said to him (and mo-in-law). He spent years in aerospace working with actuators and flight control equipment, then cable engines on ships, it's got to come in handy right? He'd be bored going on holiday all year round seriously wink

I did have a go last night but because of the new install i lost my profile and udp was switched off by default...tonight uncle jack d has been busy so no point trying...sweet dreams smile

The Fanatec v2.5 with BMW GT2 wheel us now installed. Makes the G29 feel like a toy. Feedback is amazing and so smooth.

Unfortunately have to complete a 2000 word assignment today as off to Cadwell tomorrow to go round in circles in real life. Won't get time to play it today.

Very impressive setup Rex smile

Mark, having some issues today with the PC Updater, it receives data from the game but does not show as driving the correct (or any!!) track.

ETA: had to turn off and turn on UDP again, seems to be OK now !

Think my PS4 had a wobble rather than anything on Marks end!

Tried to Bentley, bloody hell that is a beast on that track lol. Feels like manoeuvring an Elephant around Sainsburys.

Braking, although it's crap and takes an age.. I tend to do 3 maybe 4 laps at a time and then restart smile

It was all me, trying to get the pc ready for eurovision website and foolishly agreed to some monumentally long windows 10 update which took it out of action for bloody ages. Soz about that.

Haha agreed, by the way are you sure you got the right track? the time you set on the challenge site with the Bentley is about 11 seconds quicker than the global lap record lol.
