I gave it another go tonight, the Huracan is a heavy feeling, understeering car in every game I've tried smile, the formula Renault and the gt3 Ferrari feel great, AI are more of a challenge than GTS, and I like the way the track changes in the heavy rain, I'm still learning how to navigate the menus with the G29, I have the FFB set to a nice feel now though. I can see me playing GTS on a Monday when the new weeklies start, I really like the online racing and daytimes seem to attract the more patient players, I think PC2 will be the perfect fill in for when I can only play evenings or its a combo I don't like on GTS.
I use my controller for navigation.... much easier than the wheel. Just have to remember to boot the game with the wheel or it doesn't recognise you have one!

Some of the older cars are awesome - Aston DBR1 & Ferrari 250TR for example. Road cars are generally harder to drive than race cars.

I did the B & C races and got smashed all over the place by morons galore. 5sec for scraping a wall? It's a pathetic penalty system at times. In two races my SR went from S to B! Next weeks races, I'll start from the back to raise my SR.
I did some A races today, was pretty chilled once the chicane cutters cleared off...had some tiny bumps that gave me 3sec penalties, went from A to red B and finished on a white A, hopefully the penalties will get an adjustment when the update comes.

I was thinking of not qualifying for the A race and doing a few of them nice and cleanly to raise my SR. Now I'm BB and really want to get an "S" SR before and "A" DR if that makes sense?

I didn't realise you could do that, that will make things easier, there's certainly enough menus and options to keep me busy! I'm only playing the demo so only get RBR and 3 cars..I have ordered the full game, really looking forward to Lydden, Cadwell etc and the Rally X smile

IIRC you need to be SR S before it will allow you to be DR A.

A/S is where I try to stay, the S is more important than the A smile The daytime lobbies at that level on race A are my favourite, I invariably end up in a lobby with people on my friends list, and it makes for some really good clean racing.

I have tried the no qualifying tactic and it can work, bit boring though smile the problem is you end up at the back with all the crashers, so you have to slow down to give them room then you're watching the clock to make sure you make the cut off, I find the Gr4 C races good for SR, cruise round on a no stop and watch your mirror/radar.

Yeah, the Gr4 C races are great and they can be very clean. Managed to do 3 of them the last time they were held with no drop in either rating.

Race A Tokyo Expressway - Central Outer Loop / N100 / 5 Laps

Race B Brands Hatch Grand Prix Circuit / Gr.3 / 6 Laps

Race C Tsukuba Circuit / N200 ONE MAKE / 17 Laps

Apparently these are next weeks races..17 laps of Tsukuba, glad I don't have to pay for the brake pads!

Did the original Beetle race (Race A) last night and really did enjoy it. Will make sure I do a couple more tonight. Qualified 4th then got interrupted so ended up jumping the grid start which resulted in a 5sec penalty which dropped me to 12th (last). Got a 3sec penalty for something and still baffled as to why but managed to finish 4th.

For such little power it really can oversteer and they've changed some setting during the race as 2nd gear hits just under 60mph and it has a 5sp box?! More fun then some of the faster cars though smile

It was suprisingly good fun! Managed to qualify 2nd with only 1 lap and won by 7 secs. Must have been all those years driving the real thing. Mind you, they couldn't muster over 100mph in the real world.

The A race has been great, and surprisingly clean in the daytime Sr S lobbies, I only realised today that you can alter the settings, I haven't tried it as I've no idea what I'm doing. Had to laugh at super GT last night when he described the C race as a crime against gaming smile

Last night's one wasn't great as I qualified 10th (6 secs behind pole?!) and finished 8th even though I was close to 5th at one point. I didn't drive well to be fair but I've no idea why I was so behind pole? Other than ABS, I don't use any aids.

I got pole in the Tsukuba race and after a couple of mistakes including a spin, I finished 4th. It was a very close race and was really angry with myself but at least I am back to SR "S" now smile

Really? What settings can be altered?

Super GT is really funny during his streams/commentaries and love watching his videos. He seems he can keep his cool whereas I get nervous when racing online. Then again, I've only raced online with GT Sport.

I hasn't realised the settings aren't fixed. Down to 1:41 with it out of the box and know where I'm losing time.

I'm over a second off my PB at Brands. Still haven't got to grips with the changes in the updates.

I thought I was a decent driver but obviously not as can only get 1:46.3 at Tokyo! Maybe I'm taking it too easy.

Not done the Brands yet as really not sure which car to pick.

I thought I was doing well in the A race with a 40.7 till I ran into aschumi he put 4 secs into me with low 39's smile I used the WRX at Brands, I don't like the long gearing in the 911, I'm only doing mid 25's though. Looking forward to the update today, I like the look of the M3 get.

If anyones interested Nicor/orma snow is levelling up his European account and streaming it live, he's reeling off 23.0's at Brands, he just span at dingle dell and still did a 24.5 smile NicoRacing is his channel.

I'm missing something with the GT86. Watching the fastest lap replays the speed of the gearchange is much much faster than mine. I've tried various different things to see if the speed varies but to no avail. I did one race, you don't need to pit, and the difference between me and the winner was straightline speed due to gearchanges. And random French folk punting people off.
