Funny you say that as I watch YouTube vids by TheKie, Tidgney, TRL Lightning etc and BOP is on and they can go flat out without TC yet when I drive the same car on the same circuit, I have to lift/feather the throttle at places where they floor it! Maybe it's the equipment as I'm using a G29 and I think they use the Thrustmaster wheels. Either that or I'm completely scensoredte laugh

I've long held a belief that there's something in the pedals to allow the setting of an optimum throttle application for best traction. They all do the same part throttle followed by full throttle. Very rarely do you see power being progressively fed in.

It may be muscle memory in many cases but I don't think having a more automated method would be hard.

Aliens have the ability to control weight transfers more effectively... so they use less steering angle and so can use more throttle.

Try turning in a fraction earlier and using less steering angle.

  • note... I haven’t played GTS since the update, so this is just a general comment!

You've way less control over steering input on DS4. The same stick position also equates to different steering angles at different conditions. That's the setting I need to mess with as I think I'm getting too much.

What tyres are you using when you mention RSR lap times around Maggiore? (To give me an idea exactly how far off the pace I am!)

Had some really good races last night in the Ford, got my qualifying down to mid 57's but got dragged round in the races to low 57's.

@ferris I know what you mean about the underdog car but for me the Ford is a laugh to use, you either get in a rhythm with it and fly, or it throws itself off the track, I do feel sorry for the guys using the handling cars as it must be frustrating. The only assist I use is abs, I'm using a G29 and a playseat which I find really good, I do use more force feedback since the update though.

As Chris said if you watch Tidgney or Nico/Orma snow, or any of the aliens its gobsmacking how little they actually do! Snow in particular barely moves the wheel, unless he's saving some impossible slide, and they all seem to go from 1/2 throttle to full there's no in between.
I noticed last night after I'd made a mistake on a qualifying lap and was just driving round that I started to catch my ghost, how the hell is that possible? I'm just cruising, next lap took .5 off my time, I have a lot to learn about this game smile

Yes, much harder to be precise with a stick than with a wheel!

In the A/B races you can't change tyres, I'm assuming the times in Gr3 will be on racing hard, I wouldn't worry about the lap times, just do some practice laps so you know where to brake and turn then jump into some races, we're all miles off the pace compared to the top ten smile

@ferris I've seen you on the leaderboard with a 57.3 was that in the 911?

57.3 in the Ford. 57.4 in the 911, 57.5 in the M6. Can do a low 58 in just about anything. I think my record around there is a 56.4 in the M6 in an earlier version of the game.

I've got about half a second in each relative to the Opt. at present. I haven't ground it out yet and I clearly lose time in certain places relative to the quickies.

When I was playing a lot earlier in the life of the game with fewer cars, after each update I'd go to a track and run all the Gr.3 cars back to back for a handful of lapsin the arcade mode and tabulate their times. I'd regularly do 500 miles in a day. Nowhere near that now, hence the need to re-learn.

I just gave the Gr3 Ferrari a try, I'm using it in the manufacturers, 57.8 came easy enough but not sure I can go consistently quicker, I'm not very good at sitting and grinding laps...my race strategy will be hope people in front of me crash!

The 2016 Merc is worth a rip. 57.1 with that and there's a 56.8 in it, for sure.

Maggiore is such a tricky track on which to nail the optimum.

I have to say one good thing about the weeklies is it does encourage a bit of experimentation. I think that Merc came out top when Tidgney did the BOP tests.

I've been redoing the missions and circuit experience stuff just concentrating on weight transfer....wish I'd put this much effort into work!

The weeklies work well for me as I only do qually time trial as probably can only do 2 hours a week so don't bother paying for online play.

The update seems decent, in sport mode it now shows you the drivers car number, and the actual time of any penalties above the car, it's useful but it does make the screen a bit busy. New track is 2 layouts of the Red Bull Ring, I don't know anything about the track but other people are saying it's good, some new cars, which I'll only use if I need one for the weeklies, not seen anything about BOP changes, so I guess the Ford will still be rocking along in Gr3, and it's F1 in the nations tonight smile

Don't know if you guys follow GT on Facebook but their broadcasts of the Top 24 races have been pretty good. You can kind of see what the makers are aiming for. I find it as watchable as "real" motorsport, maybe more so as I can relate directly to what the participants are doing.

I've been watching Tidgney as he livestreams the races, but the GT official stuff is very good, there's a thread about it on GT planet where they're asking for feedback. I can see the weekly 24 superstars race getting a bit samey, especially if they keep fuel and tyre wear as it is, but they seem willing to let it evolve, I honestly think esports can be as exciting as "real" sports.

Decided to give the game another chance, and whilst it is quite addictive and there is now more single player content, my big complaint is that the mechanics behind it feel dated. The lack of a rewind function is a pain, especially when the AI shunts you into a gravel trap 35 minutes into an endurance race. Lack of car damage is also a bit ridiculous give the original Forza had it in 2005. I also find there isn't much feedback at the limit of traction, with rwd cars just snapping from one side to the other. Even though it has an option for wet tyres, I've never seen an option to select rainy weather either, or any sort of difficulty setting for the leagues?

You can create custom races in arcade mode, not seen a wet weather option though. The next FIA (exhibition) season has a race with damage enabled, along with some different tyre wear/fuel depletion combinations.

Seems like the game has gone full circle and now getting drop in SR and penalties when getting hit from behind. Good eh?
