I suppose its been about the right amount of time length since the XBone was launched, but I only got mine last year. Personally it feels like this is coming out a lot sooner than necessary.

I'll be sticking with my Xbone for a while yet.

" Scorpio was able to run a Forza Motorsport demo at 60 FPS in seemingly native 4K, with graphical settings at an "Xbox One-equivalent" level"

Does that mean other titles will still be plagued again by 30 fps, then? :/

Surely it's time consoles just became mini pc's and allowed upgrades and graphical options?

4K and 60 fps+ is common on a PC, as is better eye candy, yet consoles are just sealed boxes of outdated technology before they are even released.

I love consoles and have owned almost all of them, but the upgrade path of them is becoming rather boring and pointless.

PC gamers enjoy 4k at 60fps but only with a 1080 graphics card which is £400+ on its own.

If that console is £450ish then its a pretty decent deal, looks grunty after the mess of the original launch.

Perhaps I missed it having only quickly looked at a summary but...

No new IP at all? Forza 7, Assassins Creed 42 (hehe) and Gears 4 are all kinda been there, done that. On the other hand, Battegrounds is a bit of coup.

Still likely get one of these and it remains to be seen what Sony come up with tonight, however, if sequels aka shinier versions of existing games is all that can be mustered, this is going to flop in my opinion. eek

X is the Scorpio's actual name.

I'd prefer to use the gaming console for gaming, and not have all the other tabs/tiles for adverts/suggestions/feeds/social/tv guides st!

So, do you think there's any chance MS will let you customise the tabs/tiles this time?

I honestly don't get why Microsoft are not doubling down on getting some first party games worth a damn. Bringing out yet another iteration of Gears, Forza or Halo is pretty weak.

I'll also be interested to see how, if at all, devs exploit the power of the X. If you think about it - there is an install base of however many Xbones out there, that is the market that is known, and will be the one you develop stuff against. If the X ends up just getting extra particle effects or a resolution bump, with the "guts" the games still optimised towards the PS4/Xbone, then it's tough to know what benefit it'll bring. As it stands at the moment the selling point of the PS4 Pro seems to be "it's not quite as choppy in Bloodborne".

It's obviously not going to be another Kinect, but at the same time having such a large disparity between your base platform (which they will still sell) and the top end model, when it's the base model that is the one that has the lion share of the install base does make development a bit trickier I think.

I will be ordering one. Already have XBox One and PS4 Pro. I like the fact it is 40% more powerful than the PS4 Pro which looks stunning already on a 4K with HDR TV. I also like that all Xbox One games and devices will be compatible.

Oh dear, I predict this being a flop.

As said earlier on in this thread, it can have all the power it wants but if they dont do something about the range of games, its just going to be an xbox one with the same games but slightly enhanced graphics.

And as predicted, the Scorpio is going to launch with the same yawn inducing games that have been available on the Xbox platform for the past 10+ years. Everyone is getting excited about the early access Battlegrounds game, but its just the new Twitch streaming darling and by the time the Scorpio comes out people will be playing something else.

I am guessing when released the install base will be tiny, so its highly unlikely any games will be developed specifically that exploit the increased power of the new unit. Instead all you will get is the same XBO title with 4k graphics and 60fps (if you are lucky).

I know they exist, but exactly how many people out there are driven by 4k graphics and 60fps? I frankly couldn't care less. I still play XB360 games on backwards compatibility and it doesn't affect my enjoyment of the games. Also I am yet to see anything that looks as good as GTA5 on the XBO, so developers still have a long way to go before they can fully exploit the current hardware. I also dont know anyone who owns a 4k TV.

I've completely skipped this generation of consoles and the last console I bought was a PS3 slim. I moved over to the PC side of gaming, mainly for VR, which I'm a bit of a fan-boy of.
But I still can't get excited over a Microsoft console, especially since it's the 'most powerful console ever made', and it's also the 'smallest Xbox yet'. Those are not happy bed-fellows. argue

I'm not convinced it will be a true 4k60FPS console, in terms of raw GPU power its half the latest 1080TI which is pretty much a must on PC for that and this is raw GPU power not including overheads.

They are either going to cut back on detail so say medium settings to get that, or do what the PS4 pro does and upscale say 1440p in my opinion but we won't know until it comes out and gamers get their hands on it

I'll be getting one, I've always had MS consoles and see no reason to change that habit.

More Forza, more Gears, great. cool

The only downside is that my TV isn't 4k and will need to be upgraded, I wouldn't mind so much but it was bloody expensive and I hoped to get more than 4 years out of it, not to mention all the pissing about with hanging the new one on the wall etc.

Difficult to compare specs on a console and PC though - it seems the XB1X has equivalent GPU power to a 1060, but it's a much more streamlined, dedicated system compared to a PC.

I notice the PS4 Pro isn't selling particularly well, which doesn't bode well for Microsoft, but it lacks true 4K capability and any kind of Blu-Ray player so maybe it doesn't set itself apart enough from the base PS4.

But I agree with the aforementioned lack of games on both platforms. I haven't bothered buying either as there's nothing I want that I can't get on PC....and the games on the PC are cheaper....and moddable, blah blah blah, something something master race.

Yeah I'll be having one, means I can give my nephew my elite and do game sharing so he gets a huge catalogue of games to start him off.

Really like the One and hope they don't ruin the dashboard.

I've seen this commentary a lot - the XBox One X is an XBox One; short of obvious updates, the dashboard will be the same. What you see today, will be the same. Now, what MS do between now and its release to ruin it, is anyone's guess!

Have to say I've gone from 100% yes I'm getting one on launch day checking info every day to .... mmmmmmmmm ......

Wish they had kept the name. I know there was never any chance of that but Scorpio was a good name. Xbox One X is just.... Crap...

All they appear to have done is confuse people.....

I watched the E3 launch live... It was rubbish. I was waiting for the killer app that would have everyone in the audience on their feet... It didn't happen...

Just seemed to me to be loads of games that no one had heard of from Indies.... One or two looked good ....

I guess their killer app was the Bethesda game ? Not interested in multiplayer ...

I suppose it says something when the bit I was most excited about was the announcement that original Xbox games would be ported....

I now have a bad feeling that this will be a stop gap for the next gen....

I have loads and loads of games on Xbox one that I need to play including Forza 6 as I came late to this gen party.... I waited until I could get a load of great games for not much more than a tenner.

So..... I'll give it 6 months or so and see what the score is. Disappointing but im not prepared to throw £450 notes at it after the lacklustre E3 launch ....

I have a 7 year old pc running a water cooled 2500k and GTX 970 that can still hold its own in the graphics dept. I'll stick to that and the one and watch developments.
