^sorry but MW2/MW3 were far from bad titles.
I think they were absolute crap. Dreadful single player experiences, naff scenario co-op stuff and awful multiplayer. MW2 was a particular low point for the MP side of things. The balance was just awful, the maps were crap and the killstreaks were stupidly powerful and easy to access. You typically had to wait in a queue to call in air support strike, it was that bad. The contrast was especially stark because WaW proved how good the MP could be when it was well balanced. WaW was as good as COD would ever get, and COD was never worse than MW2 and MW3, which absolutely typified the awful dudebro rubbish that the series was known for.

I'm looking forward to it. I don't really play games other than COD. It's been my escapism over the years. I tried Battlefield but I don't have the patience to spend 10 minutes getting back to the action after getting killed, especially when you get killed as often as I do biggrin

My own COD history:

MW - Liked the campaign, never played the multiplayer
MW2 - As above
BO - Brilliant game which got me into team death match online
MW3 - Great campaign and played the online to death. Still fun to pop back into from time to time for a Dome fix
WAW - Loved this for both the campaign and online experience
Ghosts - This is where I stopped with the campaign half way through and only bothered with the online game. I still play this almost every day at some point. Never the most popular of the COD games but I love the guns, the variety of short, medium and long range maps and the class set up.
Then I got BO2 as I loved the original. Oh dear, I never played the campaign but the online was horrible. They've always had good, bad and average maps on these games but to not have any good maps at all was a major crime. I didn't even prestige, got to level 45 and gave up.
My son has had all of the other COD games since BO2 and although I've played them with him, I never got into them. The futuristic stuff, wall walking, jet packs and all that, no thanks.

So my dilemma is that to this day, I still spend all of my gaming time playing Ghosts and the infrastructure is getting a bit creaky. Lots of host migrations and games where I get kicked out. I did enjoy the MW remastered although the spawn issues and camping can frustrate. I'm pinning some hopes that WWII will be a return to form as I need a new game now but I won't hold my breath.

MW2 multiplayer was incredible. I racked up something like a weeks total play time (as in 168 hours) on it!

It was just before things got really mental with mods/jumping/flying bullst etc.

I feel the same about MW3. Lost many days on TDM. Last time I checked I think I had 51 days in total on Ghosts mad

1 week? I've got 33 days and counting on MW3 I'm ashamed to say.

Isn't this just a remake of COD: Big Red One? Fairly sure it's about the same division so will surely have a very similar story mode. So many different options they could have gone for. I will probably wait and watch some reviews on it. If I get it then it will be my first COD since black ops.

IMO, the only good COD was the first one as in the 2003 original (plus its expansion). COD2 was OK, then they started losing their way. Even since it's inception in BF1942 the Battlefield series has been different.

I just remember getting shot down by the tail gunner of a Japanese plane in one of the old LAN cafes in BF1942 and having my mind blown. I've never had that from COD.

If you want a more strategic fps try project reality. It's free as well

Modern warfare and the recent remastered was the last good COD title for me.

This looks like a classic COD title though, so I'm looking forward to it. I think the lack of vehicles and aircraft will make it feel a bit lacking after battlefield though.

Rumours seem to be surfacing about MW2 coming out as a stand alone title? Any truth in this?

A remaster? I can't imagine they would ever do that. they will make it as part of the premium game version. they would never sell it on its own as many people would buy that instead of their new game.

COD world champs have just finished so anyone who hasn't already has probably deleted IW forever. What an awful game. Probably the worst COD.

The beta for WW2 starts next Friday.

Interesting to see the return to BOTG.

Went to battlefield 1 and my god I love it!! I will buy WWII and I pray its good.

Trying to decided how to buy it / pre order it for the xbox 1 though, I was hoping some deals would be out but doesnt seem to be.

The XBL store won't be cheaper for new-ish or pre-ordered games I'm afraid. The only time it is is if you gameshare and split the costs.

Looking forward to this, have had every COD since MW2 apart from IW. Currently enjoying the stand alone MWR, but would agree with others that the high point of the series was WAW.

Have got my beta code from amazon but predictably the COD website to enter said code is not working...

Got there in the end - it's pretty damn good, and not a wall run or boost jump in sight. Guns feel and sound good and meaty thumbup

Had a very short go for 30 mins today - first impressions are positive.

It sounds brilliant and looks pretty good on a PS4 Pro with HDR. It's still classic call of duty, can't really notice anything new or revolutionary - small scale maps, mostly close combat, lots of mad running around. It's got some nice cues to the original COD's for us older players who remember the day 1 release. Will keep my pre-order in place.
