Hi - I've got a pretty decent PC setup with a GTX970, feedback wheel, 5.1 sound etc, and enjoy playing it way too late on a school night...
One of the reasons I'm often there til 2am is down to the PC.. updates.. crashes etc.. .so considering going the PS4 route & wheel

How well does it compare, aurally & visually ?

Why not join the Project Cars stooopid challenges then....also, someone on that thread will no doubt know the answer....I'm purely a PS4 person so can't give you a comparison.
It's about 50/50 PS4 / PC with the odd Xbox contender in on the fun. I'm one of the worst drivers, but the handicap system makes it pretty fair.

I've got both, and if I had a full 40+ inch TV to play PS4 version I'd be happy with either. I have triple screens and (when it's working) oculus rift for playing Project Cars so that gives the PC the edge. There's virtually nothing in it in terms of how the game plays. You can turn up the eye candy if you have a more powerful PC. If you want to race online there is a healthy community both in PC and PS4. So the answer is, whichever you prefer smile

+1 on the Stoopid Challenges, it's good fun and forces you to try out different combos.

Can't comment as i only have PC but no issues myself, apart from wheel settings not actually saving from session to session

How much of the eye candy is lost when compared to a decent PC?

Unless you're an eye candy wh0re you won't be disappointed...it looks lovely on PS4 and once you are racing you're not going to give a monkeys...

Right.. good to know. Having spent 6 hrs+ this week making the PC work again (Windows re-install, GTX & Logitech wheel drivers, Game install) I'm going to give one more go.. if it's not 100% good it'll be looking for a new home!
Just seen my G27 wheel wont work on a PS4 which is annoying. Oh well, UPGRADE OPP!

Yep, G29 with shifter is usually on offer in currys for around £150.

I bought one then realised my T500 will work with the PS4 (just not in the menus)

My wife is not impressed as I've now got 4 wheels (DFGT,G27,T500 & G29), I haven't told her i didn't really need the G29 yet....

I paid 135 quid for my G29 with a deal on HUKD.
I've not got the shifter, never felt like I am better off with it, I used to love using the shfiter on my G25 but I'm happy enough with the paddles for now.

G29 is the PS4 one, ignore the other one, it's a load of cobblers...the other version for xbox is called the g920. trust me it's the right one

currys are being knobeds though xjay. the wheel and pedals are £280, the shifter is £50, but if you buy together you get the both for £180...it looks like cheapest uk price still. Even looking at ebay and amazon

I'd offer you mine as I rarely use it, but I'd have to explain to SWMBO that i never needed it in the first place...that's £180 worth of aggro i don't need lol

If I do go the PS4 route if there a better wheel option? (without going into four figures...)

One site suggests Thrustmaster T300 RS

Yes the T300 is a better wheel, but it's also double the price without the shifter (and there's no point because you only get 2 pedals and most people feel the need to upgrade them). In my opinion it's not double the wheel. You own a G27 so you know how good it is, the G29 is very similar, just modified to work on PS4.

The answer is obviously how much do you want to spend...if you're going to splurge I'd go with a PC upgrade and stick with that. Far more options to upgrade the experience than console. You're only missing out on Gran Turismo after all.

I have triple screens, transponders with vibration for car feel, oculus rift (when it's working). I'm actually thinking of selling the PS4 and G29, mainly because GT Sport Beta has been pretty disappointing so far and I've hardly used it. Everything else I can play on PC and get a much better experience.

I would suggest the g29 is a better all round package considering the price.
But if you want to move to PC then get a Fanatec wink

B2b - your wheel stories with the mrs does make me chuckle smile

The t300 wheel is excellent but the pedals are pretty rubbish.
I didn't care as I have a set of Fanatec pedals for PC and I only paid £190 for it.

For that reason I tend to stick with PC for my racing.
