It happens when you try to go off the map.
I was aware of that one, but it's happened a couple of times when floating around St Denis and also trying to get that pirate sword.
I've accidentally shot a hole in one, they do sink fairly slowly if you do that.

As long as you're in Ep2-6 you can swim to the Sword fairly easily, or use a Horse, it's not far out. You need to stand around it location to catch one of the Legendary Fish.
Managed it in the end, pretty much just walked out haha.

Turns out the random boat sinking thing, according to Google, is a glitch. Hope that gets patched out eventually.

Well I didn't get much achieved this weekend, out of about 8hrs!

Mostly just wondered around bumping into side missions, lemoyne raiders, damsels in distress (Margaret for those who know hehe ) crafting, fishing (where the fk are the 3no bluegills?!) and train pinching!

On the latter, found a random train with nobody on it, not near a station, so jumped on and started driving while my horse galloped alongside.

Came up to another train (pointing towards me, being robbed be lemmy's) and thought I was in for a massive train wreck, but my train just stopped, and wouldn't go any further.

Headed backwards where I'd come from expecting to see another train behind me at some point, but just kept going and going for ages, until my stupid horse jumped off a cliff and nearly killed itself.

So much to do without actually doing anything. Proper time sink!

This made me chuckle. Great name. I spent a good part of Sunday roaming around trying to find the last of the legendary fish with Arthur. Think i have 3 to go. Played through a chunk of chapter 3 and got to a prominent point in the story, you'll only know/realise it if you know the spoiler or have played through the game already, so i won't post it. Genuinely made me pause and take in what an epic game R* have created. The scenery, story telling & gameplay. Not sure how it'll be topped IMO!

I managed to lose my war horse that I've had since pretty much day one (my day one, not release day) last night.

I had the war horse as my main horse and then decided to capture another and tame it. It's a Nokota (I think) and is really fast so I decided to hold onto her and park my main horse at the camp while I built up bonding with the new one. I went hunting and exploring for a couple of hours on the Nokota and happened across a pack of horses so I tamed one of those and piled on some more pelts... eventually rode back to camp with the Nokota and the random Kentucky Saddler and saved the game. All fine.

Fired it up last night and the new crap horse is in the camp and my now main horse (the Nokota) is saddled up... but the original war horse is gone. I also bought the horse station the previous night so figured the war horse would be fine hitched there... but no. I tried to use the horse station menu and it wouldn't work as my war horse wasn't in the stable and now was completely gone. I googled what happens when you lose a horse and all the answers were around going and finding it on the map, but mine wasn't on the map. Main horse and new crap horse were in the camp and my original one had just vanished between saving one night and loading the next.

I ended up reloading an older saved game and my original horse was back, but I lost the couple of hours progress I made the previous night. I did see a few folk having this issue when I googled, but what a bugger it was. I'm not quite sure if I did this wrong or if it's a bug or if I should've thought this through more, but watch out for that happening.

Once I fixed that, I trailed away up North from Rhodes to snag the legendary bison and the White Arabian. I got the bison without too much bother and landed a legendary fish too - which I couldn't take back as I had no space on my horse. So I went to get the Arabian and found it pretty quickly, but it appeared while I was trying to shoot down a Moose. I didn't manage to kill the Moose in one shot and once I saw the Arabian I abandoned that idea and went to get the horse. I managed to calm it enough to get close but not mount it, then the Moose ran by and spooked it and they both jumped into the lake and the horse swam over and hid under a waterfall behind some rocks...

I swam over and lasso'd the horse as I couldn't get into the waterfall (game wouldn't let me) but I couldn't get the horse out either, and I tried and tried. It seemed stuck in some kind of glitch, so I abandoned that and went to camp for the night, hoping it would reappear back out somewhere... but it didn't. I spent ages buggering around looking for it and then camped out again and it still hadn't appeared. So I bailed out altogether and went to sell my pelts and come back. Got into a couple of scrapes on the way there and back and am now camped back in the far North hoping the Arabian is back when I get home tonight.

I would normally be pretty hacked off by all this waste of time, but it's been great fun still. I might just forget the Arabian as I've had this radical idea that I might change plans and do some of the Chapter 3 story missions... biggrin

Any idea what happens to the Legendary Fish? I just had to dump it on the ice as I had no way of getting it back anywhere. Do I just have to go and catch another one?

Ha! Cheers. I never thought of that. I nearly trailed over there too, but stopped at the stables nearer my current camp and when it wasn't there I opted for the reload option.

I've only lost one horse so far, the very first one I got. Think it bit the dust in a gunfight, but I'm a wee bit attached to my old War Horse now after a few weeks playing the game.

I'm only 37% through the game and still only just into Chapter 3. 37% seems high to me as the last week or so, all I've done is wander about and stuff... biggrin

Some of you guys are excellent at hunting. Is there a map or anything I can view online which shows the best location for finding animals to hunt?

Also if anyone can recommend which ones to hunt first to get the best pelts that would be appreciated.

Cheers.

If you go see Pearson at the camp, select crafting, it'll tell you what he needs to make what you want.

The map will have drawings of what animals can be found where, the more you explore, the more will be marked on the map.

... and yes, I then trudged with my saddle through the alligator swamps for 15 mins.... I then failed miserably to steal a horse...

Oh no! I was doing something like that last night taking a shortcut and was wondering what would happen if I bet and lost.

Last night was much better. Panther snagged, satchel upgraded (I assume you can only have one at a time, so you have to choose which one is most useful?), Arabian tamed and now my main horse and I snagged the legendary fish nearby... or did I? I even did a story mission too.

I spent ages trying to post it back to the guy, tried 3 different post offices and wasted ages, but it wouldn't give me the option of posting it... then it dawned on me. It was just called a Muskie, not a Legendary Muskie, despite me catching it in the right lake with the right bait and it being 18lbs+. Jesus. I'll go back sometime and try again I guess. Haha.

.
You get the bonus of every satchel, trinket and trophy crafted whether you wear them or not. its the same with the upgraded bandolier/holsters. You still have the bandolier bonus even if you don't wear it.

It's well worth doing all the satchels as early as you can, as the jump between standard (5 items), crafted upgrade (10 items) and the every satchel (99 items!) is mental.

Also, you can only donate to pearson for crafting stuff he will use, I sell all other perfect skins to the trapper, as once you have sold them they unlock the various suits the trapper sells.

Never you mind

Press share and it records your last 15 mins of gameplay. Just edit then in capture gallery on main screen (PS4)
