They're releasing the SNES console again but in a smaller format + several games built into it.

Nintendo article here

It includes star fox 2 (which was never officially finished/released despite it being leaked).

Out in Europe on September 29th

Hope they make more than half a dozen like they did with the NES.

Nintendo are the sttest company for deciding on how much stock to order in. See; NES classic, plus every amiibo they make.

Not at all rose tinted, i use the classic nes more than any of my other consoles and it regularly travels with me in my suitcase. Granted the snes, for me at least, is not as strong a line up of games but woulf of loved one if only to get the full collection.

Reports are saying fully sold out everywhere though frown

Game won't allow preorder and I can't seem to find it on Amazon to sign up for email alert.

Anyone found it anywhere else?

Love the idea of this and the NES version but can't bring myself to buy one. I've got a Raspberry Pi set up to play all the old NES/SNES/Arcade/PS1 games and haven't touched it in ages.

probably not but where's the fun in that? the possibilities are endless with what you could do. some people like to stick it inside another console or make a portable version fitted into a 'classic' game boy and an upgraded colour screen. there'll still be a wealth of resources on how to go about it.

You may find one already pre-loaded on ebay but it was pretty easy to do it yourself to be honest.. I followed the following thread for the instructions and bought everything I needed on Amazon..

http://www.eurogamer.net/forum/thread/316023

This was the kit I bought, more or less nicked from a post on there.. I actually didn't buy the joypad in the end and just use old PS3 wireless controllers..

Raspberry Pi 3 Model B Quad Core CPU 1.2 GHz 1 GB RAM Motherboard

Raspberry Pi 3 Case - Black/Grey

Raspberry Pi 3 Power adapter UK/EU 5V 2.5A

SanDisk Ultra Android 64 GB microSDXC Class 10 Memory Card + SD

Buffalo Classic USB Gamepad for PC (snes pad)

Rii i8 Multifunction 2.4 GHz RF Portable Mini Wireless Keyboard with Touchpad Mouse - Black

Sold out in minute(s), as one would expect.

Preorders currently being flipped on eBay for 2x the RRP.

Business as usual for Nintendo then. No doubt this will also get discontinued within a week of being released.

Coming soon: "Classic" N64.

No chance (he says, Mega Drive still under the spare telly).

2D sprite based stuff peaked with the 16-bit era and it really doesn't age compared to the early 3D stuff. The gameplay is as exceptional (and tough!) as ever.

It's all academic anyway, most of us who would buy one of these to actually use will be priced out by eBay scalpers.
