I'm reluctant to pre-order after my experience with FM6. I had an issue where one Driveatar would post insanely good times, as in top 250 in Europe level, no matter what difficultly settings I tried so made coming first impossible. It took a while for that to settle down, so I may wait a month or so before picking it up.

2018 Porsche GT3 RS at Dubai.
The car is a handful after being used to autoshifting in Horizon 3, maybe I shouldn't have played this car first . The track is good, uphill twisties remind me of Fujimi Kaido, downhill twisties like a wider Bathurst, if you've got a good speaker setup you'll love the tunnel
2015 Mercedes truck at Mugello.
Hard to tell anything in a truck but I liked Mugello in ye olde Forza and this seems pretty good.
2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo #23 at Nurburgring GP
Wet weather storm stuff was good, has a big effect on braking points.
I'll come back to this and have a proper go. No demo leaderboards that I can find, races are 2 laps starting from the middle of the pack.

I've done everything twice so far using my G920 wheel, with all assists off (did one playthrough with normal steering, and one with simulation). For reference I loved Forza 6 until I got a wheel, then I found Project Cars' sensation of grip and driving far more realistic/satisfying.
So far in Forza 7 the wheel implementation is a big step on from Forza 6, so far as I can tell. Much weightier but still not a huge sensation of grip or side-to-side weight transfer like you get in Project Cars. Also in the GT2RS with Normal steering you get a weird pumping force-feedback feeling when you lose traction. With simulation steering it goes away.
Simulation steering finally seems sort of playable – it's very easy still to lose the 911's back end under braking, and it feels like there are corners you'd be able to take at 70mph where you just get the classic Forza zero grip thing. But you can catch slides a little more easily one-handing the wheel and balancing the throttle. The thing Project Cars does really well is give you that grippy feeling you get with proper tyres in real life, where you can lean on them in fast corners with confidence. Forza 7 is generally better than 6 was in terms of that, but still some way off PC… you still have to take a bit of a guess how hard you can push.
Other cool things… it's very pretty, especially the last lap of the Nurburgring as the storm clears. Truck racing is cool, nice to have Mugello back but will be nicer to drive it in something that doesn't need an altimeter. Dubai is long and cool, but not that interesting. Couldn't tell much difference in grip between the sand-covered bits and the rest, despite having the 'grip assist' off, and the grip levels on the Nurburgring as the track went from dry to wet didn't seem to change hugely (although in the wet you'd spin as soon as you put a wheel on the grass).
So far it's another iterative step on. Which is a good thing!

Preordered FM7 Ultimate in June, and just cancelled it tonight. The demo didn't sell it to me at all - a repeat of my experience with Horizon 3 unfortunately.
Shame, as I was looking forward to it but even with all assists off, everything on the demo seemed glued to the track.
Really underwhelming, I hope the graphics will be better when the X comes out - the only bit of the game that gave me a bit of a graphical wow was coming around the Nurburgring GP Coca Cola Kurve in the GTR at the end of the second lap as the sun is setting.
Other than that - I thought it was a big pile of meh...

My thoughts thus far:
Porsche GT2 RS - Horrid car, suspension is too soft, front grip needs improving massively. Needs more aero.
Dubai track - Nice to look at, not really that cohesive to race on, seems to be a mish mash.
Truck - Doesn't really seem to have any handling, just grips and goes. Needs a tighter rear diff
Mugello - Lovely track and glad it's back
Nissan Race Car - Really nice to drive, feels spot on and when it gets wet the car will indulge in cheeky slides
Nurburgring - Looks amazing when the weather comes in, and the way puddles come and go is really impressive
Overall thoughts I had are that the game with assists off feels exactly like forza 4 which for me is disappointing really. The game still has that really odd feeling of when you try and correct oversteer it will just randomly grip and throw you the other way. The vibration on a pad is weird with huge spikes for no real reason, switched that right off! Graphics and sounds are really good, adds to the experience.
I won't be pre ordering and will most likely pick this up as a casual racer in a few months time.

Pretty much my thoughts, so glad Mugello is back, was one of my favourites from older Forza games. I'll still pick it up next Friday though I think.Porsche GT2 RS - Horrid car, suspension is too soft, front grip needs improving massively. Needs more aero.

Is there a problem with the GT2RS part of the demo?
The car pretty much doesn't turn in at any speed and its not input lag on my side. Even if you go about 30mph and turn, it hardly responds and it makes the noise as if the tyres are scrubbing under speed.
The GTR seems ok and responsive though.

Check the settings for the controller they have built in a default deadzone for steering, throttle, braking and clutch. Set these to 0 and should be better, the GT2RS is a dog though. The car pretty much doesn't turn in at any speed and its not input lag on my side. The GT2RS is getting a lot of complaints online, all mostly the same about it under steering. It could be a bug, as the demo is likely to be an earlier build of the game. It does largely look identical to what has done the rounds at game shows and in previews etc. But I would be surprised if it was.
I also noticed that your headlights don't flick on when entering the tunnel on the Dubai track, so that may also be a bug...
Still, racing trucks and the Nissan GT3 were both good fun. The game is proper eye candy, all the car models look and sound great.
I think the AI is a bit crap though, they seem to be very strict on sticking to their line, so getting a lot of shunts either from behind or left/right of me. I also seem to come off worse when taking a knock...

Apart from a few wobbly bits on the cars, and improved weather dynamics, I am struggling to justify this one.
Forza for me is mainly about the mix of cars; the last two Horizons and the last few Motorsports have stagnated horribly looking at the list of included makes / models (save for the GT2 and some racers).

Problem is that there's only a finite number of performance cars in the world to include in a game, especially as you don't get the off road and trial events from FHForza for me is mainly about the mix of cars; the last two Horizons and the last few Motorsports have stagnated horribly looking at the list of included makes / models (save for the GT2 and some racers).
