I'm not very good with technology,
I stopped the time trial when you started with the stupid challenges at the time we only had a mac but recently bought daughter a note book will that work? I had thought of giving it a go but not had a lot of time recently.
So if I was able to take part as I'm not very good, are others able to see where I bad and give me some tips?
As long as it runs windows and the lapudater software is up and connected to your network at the same time as you are lapping on the PS4 then yes.I stopped the time trial when you started with the stupid challenges at the time we only had a mac but recently bought daughter a note book will that work? Absolutely, happy to help where I can as are others, you'll learn over time how to read the telemetry data too. There is a newly installed little chat box on the results website, or just post in the thread I tagged on the PH forum. We're a friendly bunch although I tend to monologue in there regularly when things go quiet.

I have been impressed with the press build, mostly impressed that they have taken a serious look at the faults of the first game, although It would be good to know which cars are final and which aren't from what I have.
For the entire press day I had to use a control pad, and it worked really well straight away, although the Group C Jag was a handful, its a handful with a wheel as well.
When I fired it up at home with a wheel setup, the FFB "flavours" as they call them worked really well, was most impressed with the different weight feeling according to which car I was in.
Seriously, these new puddles, if you are on the wrong tire, its game over, the Mulsane is aquaplane central, I know it gets bad as I go to Le Mans every year and you can see how the normal road struggles to dissipate the standing water.
Want to see some improvement to the Ferrari V12 sounds, not that impressed with the P4 or the Daytona, like the 333SP though.
It is coming along very nicely.
None of the cars in the Press build were final Matt, the most advanced polish wise was the Ford GT/GTE, but even that has moved on since the press build. To be honest, my interest in the time trials faded as it became more complicated. I am a simple bloke at heart and enjoyed the simplicity of just a car, a track and a challenge to get round as fast as I could, then post the result. None of this software/telemetry shenanigans! Isn't there some sort of rubber banding that goes on too? Absolutely, happy to help where I can as are others, you'll learn over time how to read the telemetry data too. I absolutely commend Mark on the time, the effort and the considerable expertise he has put in but, it just doesn't appeal to me in the currrent format. Hopefully PC2 will see the return of a simpler TT, perhaps to run in tandem?
Anyway, I digress....I am very much looking forward to PCars 2

There is a handicap system so everyone has a chance (which I presume is the rubber banding you refer to), but there is also a "real time" championship system (league 1/2) if anything it's simpler because you don't even have to faff about in a forum post trying to produce a table...the telemetry is produced by the game, so it's optional whether you use it or not...I absolutely commend Mark on the time, the effort and the considerable expertise he has put in but, it just doesn't appeal to me in the currrent format. Car/track/challenge it's still the same once you're driving...and I'm fairly simple too

Is the 'real time' championship not exclusively populated by the faster drivers though? A middle of the pack specialist such as myself needs a fewer slower guys in there too, if only for the sake of my ego Car/track/challenge it's still the same once you're driving...and I'm fairly simple too

That's where the handicap system comes in.If you're slow, it will give you a bump, if you're quick, you will have to be quick.
It's all a bit of fun and being on the old Project Car Weekly Challenge thread it's SO much easier running this app on my laptop than manually copying the S1-3 and total lap times down.
The telemetry is fun as well.
It's all a bit of fun mate, honestly give it a go .

Nah, it is the handicap system that bothers me the most tbh. I want to know that I have truly earned my 4th or 5th place (assuming I had a good week) If you're slow, it will give you a bump, if you're quick, you will have to be quick.

Realtime is split into 2 leagues, with promotion and relegation, so you are always battling against someone of a similar ability. There is a wide range of skills /speed which is the reason for the handicap system...it works quite well tbh, a bit temperamental when the laptimes jump from 1m to 2m+ but otherwise it's ok, Nobody consistently dominates because if you do you end up with a zero handicap and everyone else gets a leg up, makes it harder to win the next time out.The software tells you how you are doing against the splits of another driver (which you can select depending on where you are aiming). If you're in the mood there is even a Tourettes mode which swears at you...which is fun when your 9yo daughter asks you why your computer just called you a "cockwomble".
We're getting fairly regular turnouts, so always someone to compete with.
Ok. A tyre manufacturer partnership/technical partnership....that can't be bad for a racing game can it.

Just a little VR tour of the Nordshleife in a Ford GT and changeable and slippery conditions on slick tyres, gives you an idea of how much the weather and the tyres you are on are going to impact your race. Notice that different parts of the track are wetter than others, weather speed is 20x so is coming and going pretty fast.

Is this thread one big advert? I will be holding off on this after getting burned first time round, having far too much fun on Assetto Corsa and looking forward to the glorious looking Ferraris.
There's quite a lot of material being put out about Project CARS 2 at the moment as it release date is Friday...it's a discussion thread about the preview article so people post things for discussion, most of which is either previews, reviews or marketing bumf, would you expect anything different with 3 days to release, I'm pretty sure the same happened before AC was released as it does with every game. There's no reason people can't enjoy both games...a lot of people are holding off for the same understandable reasons, mainly around the game breaking console issues which I didn't experience as I play on PC. I think the first game is brilliant, with the right settings the FFB is up there with AC, but it does take a lot of twiddling to get it there. I'm not going to completely dismiss all other games because I like PC1 though...
Project Cars 2 has some glorious looking Ferrari (is that plural for Ferrari, not sure), they drive great too, as I'm sure they will in AC.
