I’m 45 and don’t plan on stopping any time soon if that makes you feel any better.

No, it is a hobby like any other. Unfortunately I appear to have got bored with games, can't be bothered to learn the controls etc... frown

As long as it doesn't interfere with grown up (work/ family) life too much, what's the problem?

I'm the same, I still like the idea of gaming but controllers just aren't as good as a keyboard/mouse combo for 3D shooters and I no longer have a desk like I used too when I played my games on a PC.

Or maybe controllers are as good but I just can't get up to speed with them as I am too old!

Turn 50 in a few weeks, 10 yr old son had a 360, PS3 and my PS4 in the living room. I havent played much recently as work had been getting in the way, but had a few hours last night on BF1 with some of my mates on here. If Im honest its the banter in game that I enjoy the most.
Missus is OK with it as long as I dont shout too loud at those across the map headshots... or it doesnt mean I wake her up at 1am getting into bed smile

Long as the stuff that needs to get done is, I cant see why age should be any sort of a limit.
Im off to Bike Park Wales soon, fire myself down the mountain on my MTB. No one bats an eye doing stuff like that, though I do accept at some time I will be too old to do that !!

58 and have a session 4 or 5 times a week. The only negative is my lad still beats the stuffing out of me at FIFA _every_single_time.

Same here - 50 in a couple of weeks and still loving it.

I think it's actually better this way - when I was a kid back in the 70s I spent my time making rope swings, building dens, climbing trees and so on. When I got a bit older I did spend an awul lot of time writing and playing games on my TRS80 or Dragon 32.

If I'd had access to the sort of stuff we have now and such things as Battlefield 4/1, Forza or Grand Theft Auto 5 I would never have gone out, I'd never have been off it. I suspect that my physical wellbeing would have suffered and my school work certainly would have.

45 and still play. Mainly older games (dusted down Diablo 2 again), sometimes modern games (Assetto Corsa).

I was the same. The key was to play games that are not third person shooters which saves you getting frustrated with the fact you cannot aim like you could on mouse and keyboard.

The one that I put so many hours into and doesn't need perfect controller skills was Skyrim.

Got used to the controller and worked from there. Same with a couple of driving games.

Now, after years, I have been playing Destiny and have transferred the skills with the controller to aiming and am able to enjoy it.

DOn't give up, just find a really good game that catches your attention and is worthy but doesn't need razor sharp aiming skills.

RW (40 and sitting in a room surrounded by games and consoles, supposedly called a Study).

Ahh the old 'study'! I long for the day when I can have my own 'study' back. Had to sacrifice mine for a step into the housing ladder.

I'm 40 and probably more into it now than for a long time - despite the endless moaning of the gaming community at large I think the quality of some of the games available these days is astonishing.

My other half does have a moan every now and then but only if I am spending too much time on it - which does happen from time to time.....

I'm also 43 and I'm on COD Ghosts pretty much most days. I do get a lot of flack from Mrs Toon but I normally zone out the negative comments and shouting and incorporate that to make the battle conditions seem more real. I just shout back now and then "but I can't leave my men down there without covering fire" and finish off her whinge with a "you weren't there man, you weren't there." She actually accuses me of being immature sometimes.

Seriously though, when I'm playing I'm either really happy that I'm playing well and it takes my mind of my stressful job or I'm shouting "camper" and going into a rage. The latter still takes my full attention and focus and means I'm not thinking about the stresses of real life. Win/win.

I’m 42 and just thinking about getting back into it to be honest.
I remember playing the original Doom on my PC and then ridge racer on the first PlayStation.

Does anyone remember manic miner and jet set willy on the spectrum? Or pong on the BBC micro?

Right now I’m torn between an XBox one X or PS4 Pro!

I'm 49. Started gaming in 1977 when I was 9 on a Grandstand Model 2000. Had just about every system since at one time or another ...

Chucky egg on the BBC microcomputer was my favourite of that era!
