I've played a lot over the past few weeks. Very much enjoying it so far.

It took a while but I've managed to get a fighter and bomber from each side up to max level, which means they're pretty much invincible most games, especially since I got good at flying hehe

Pretty much playing Assault for the most part when no planes are available.

Yep, after a shaky start im starting to really like it now. In BF1 and previous games I was pretty exclusively Support (because I hate running out of ammo), but ive noticed that in this ive been mostly playing Assault, as ammo seems readily available, and assault has a "support-ish" type gun in the RibeyeSteak1918, plus a decent amount of projectile explosives.

Ive got used to being killed more often than in previous games and while that initially bothered me, now you get revived way more so it evens it out.
Ive always been a bit of a lone wolf, and for the first game since I started on BF2 I pretty much stay with the squad now and play the objectives, because its actually beneficial to you for the first time in the series.

Mostly bug-free for me, except the sinking ammo crates, and the blue and green blobs across the screen I get on revival (apparently an issue for AMD cards, but fixable by quickly swapping to the squad screen and back before you respawn).

Graphics continue to amaze me... its a glorious looking game.

This is type of game that makes it frustrating. Playing against 3 clearly vastly superior players. Effectively can’t win the game.

you mean they revived each other alot?

ive noticed that on some servers i seem to have a good connection, change to a different one and it just goes to pot.

I also prefer the running and gunning type of maps and game modes as prefer the more aggressive nature of the game then. Running around flag to flag on wide open maps = boring as fk

Just that when you get a team like that it’s near impossible to win because the standard is so high. Stayed in the game and 5 times in row I’m out on opposite team. Doesn’t even mix it up.

Credit where it’s due, had zero lag this afternoon and the game ran as smooth as you would expect. There is definitely a good game lurking in there.

Apparently an update is due for release soon with a netcode update....

Had 4 games just a moment ago;
1st game rage quit
2nd game was shocking then a few people left
3rd game blasted it
4th game blasted it

So odd how servers or games can change if some people leave

Just posting this in case anyone else is loving the Ribeye1918 assault gun and is trying to progress up the mastery levels to get the gold bits.
I was stuck on level 3 (kill 60 people within objective areas) as the kills weren't tracking.
Seems DICE have screwed up the programming - but if you keep that assignment open but use the sturmgewehr 1-5 instead, kills with that gun register as kills with the ribeye. HTH!

2nd session with it last night, just starting to make some progress with it but had some excellent games. People were working as squads reviving, targeting flags for attack and sticking together.

I've been playing and enjoying the game for some time now, so feel that I can add some more comments :

Breakthrough is the closest game mode to rush, so I'm happy enough at the moment. I refuse to play the other game modes, so the addition of rush would be good improvement. Fun for me us not playing flag merry-go-round...

Gun handling seems inconsistent, some games they handle as expected and other games they just seem 'off'. Unscientific but happens often enough for me to think its netcode/server issues. The number of times I've got the drop on someone, empty a clip into them to see them jump and 2 tap headshot me. Also I'm experiencing getting shot around corners. This st didn't happen in BF4, so I don't think its lag at my end. The mechanics seem to suit fast paced run and gunning and firing from the hip which feels more COD than BF.

Possibly associated with the above, but I'm seeing a few too many lone ninjas jumping into an area my team is holding and clearing 3/4 players with a single clip of an mg34...
...and a couple of obvious aimbot players too. All in all though, I think cheating is not too prevalent.

I can't seem to get my mouse/keyboard right for flying, which is odd, as it works very well in War Thunder, so have only had a few brief fights in planes. The AA seems well balanced, i.e. it can't usually take down a plane on its own, but can kill damaged planes or assist your allied planes.

Not a new problem, but too many players seem to care about their K/D ratio rather than PTFO, hence the hillsides are awash with the glint of sniper rifle sights, and tanks sit at the back sniping.

I started off, thinking that this was a poor battlefield game, after playing for the last month I've come to like the game, and with a few tweaks could become a solid BF game.

Tanks seem incredibly easy to destroy if you have a willing assault chap next to one, as such I think a lot sit back in safety until they unlock the anti personnel mines or spotting flares. Even with those I'm reluctant to get in too deep as they feel too slow-witted compared with other versions in the franchise.

It's about time the level 50 cap and major bugs were ironed out now, its bad enough to have paid a pre-release premium for a game that's unfinished and now 50% cheaper. I can do without it being broken too.

That said, when it's good it's a lot of fun.

This isn’t a bad thing as tanks and standing still or having limited manoeuvrability are issues in real life but over in the official forums and on reddit tank weenies are spitting feathers that they can’t go 40-1 like they did in BF4 or BF1 and waltz into flag cap areas with relative impunity.

Down to £20 on CDKeys now. Definitely worth it at that.

How much do people think the single player campaign is worth? I don't play online shooters.

If the game is £20 now, the SP campaign is worth about £1 biggrin

There are 4 levels (so far), each divided into 3 "acts". Each level needs to be replayed several times if you want to complete all the challenges/collect all the secret items to earn some unique melee weapons, and to do that sometimes you'll need to stealth it up, others are all guns blazing. You'll be sick of them long before you complete them 100% though.

L1 - Origins of the SAS - my fave, quite a stealthy mission across deserts with some good set-pieces. Let down by the two cheeky cockney characters ("Gor blimey guv!") and their constant "bants" that will set your teeth on edge.
L2 - Norwegian Resistance - another quite stealthy one, infiltrating a heavy water plant to rescue someone, and then escaping. You Play a woman for the diversity tick.
L3 - Moar diversity as you play a black French colonial soldier facing not just the enemy, but also RACIST INTOLERANCE from his own army. Pretty standard fare in terms of the level design.
L4 - Driving a (German) tank through a knackered city, with some sections on foot. Quite good fun on the whole, though while it feels like they were trying to be brave by the story being about a german tank commander, they cop out by making it clear hes a "nice" german commander whos just trying to do his best, rather than a Nazi fanatic like his subordinate.

Tank weenie here hehe. Not sure that tanks were ever that good on BF1, but yes on BF4 you could have a huge impact.

On this game the tanks are probably slightly more difficult to play compared to BF4 and on some maps hardly worth playing. I find the heavies/mediums a liability apart from on Aerodrome so I use the light/scout tanks on the other maps where speed, smoke and the health boost are your friends. Once I have used my health boost I will usually go back to a supply dump to get another. I do generally need to wait for infantry to cap a defended flag but I can be useful in spotting/suppression and if its empty when I arrive I can generally fight off anyone coming to stop me. Haven't done 40-1 but been close and got a 26-0 this morning on the bridge map.

In BF4 you could slug it out with infantry, here, for me at least, its in, kill a few, take a flag, and then out after taking a couple of hits. I think the balance is about right because good infantry squads can nullify me. A light tank being able to take out a heavy so easily is a bit silly but I am not complaining!

My annoyance is when im in a squad of 2 or 3 (and no other squads are available) and one of my guys is in a plane, and the other is just sitting at the edge of the map in an AA gun or something. Right then, i'll be spawning back at base and hiking in then....

in BF1 I think every plan had at least 2 seats, so there was a lot of "spawn in plane and parachute in behind enemy lines". Ive only noticed one multi-seat plan in BFV, and the flight map is way bigger than the ground map, so invariably I ended up parachuting into the desertion area.

+1 to the light tanks being much better. I love the Staghound. Each time I've been into a heavy tank I've became a magnet for Assault players, although I have been known to jump into one of the anti-air tanks in anger after someone in a plane has shot my plane down hehe
