They've said the map area is pretty much the same as the last game.

One thing they did say, which I think has been evident in the footage shown so far, is that they've built more 'verticality' to the map, ie. bigger hills and mountains, more elevation changes.. Edinburgh looks really cool in the way that it's not just a totally flat grid of roads, and some of the dirt roads they showed in the Spring video looked quite cool, it looks like you're more enclosed by the trees.

I think it will feel bigger, in the sense that there's more land to traverse and more things to find, but you lose some of the long high-speed roads that there quite prevalent in FH3.

Agreed that the map definitely needs more Elevation - Remember that Mountain road in Horizon 1? (can't remember the name on the map) but it was a long winding road with a tiny festival spot at the top I think?

A bit of that on the new one would go down a treat, hopefully something Fujimi inspired wink (we can only hope lol) need some REAL endless hairpin mountains...

This is a condensed version of their most recent video (a mix of FH4 and FM7). Shows the Formula Drift car pack which is coming to both games and some in-game drifting around the new map - it's a pre-order bonus for Horizon:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90z6xa-CR2s

Looks cool, i'm not hugely into Formula Drift but I do like drifting in the game, and these cars do look pretty awesome with lots of detail. Also info about the drift suspension option that will now be available - similar to how the off road suspension raises the car and makes it handle better off road, the Drift suspension increases the steering angle so you can go sideways more / better (?).

Also a nice update - traffic and drivatars are ghosted when you enter a Drift Zone, so you won't risk losing all the points from a big drift chain when you tap another car - personally, if I'm nit-picking, I'd like this to be a switchable option in the difficulty settings, because sometimes I'd want ghosting on when I'm going for the 3 star drift score, and sometimes I'd like it turned off when I'm just casually drifting around trying to dodge traffic as I think it makes it a bit more immersive.. But it's a welcome update nonetheless.

Another thing I noticed when re-watching the last stream (Spring, Edinburgh etc) was that with the Super WheelSpin (where you get 3 spins at once - I believe this is exclusive to the VIP membership that you get with the non-base version of the game, or can buy separately), they earned 830,000 Credits in total, which seems crazy when, IIRC, the highest prize previously was 100k.. So those £million hypercars and things like Edinburgh Castle don't seem so far out of reach now..

With two other games needing buying in October I'm not sure whether I can fork out for the ultimate edition... £80 is more than I've ever paid for a game..

Do I wait to play Fallout & RDR so that I can get the UE or go for standard and one of the others in october...

I'm trying to balance out my games too, I don't like having a backlog for months, but it's not easy when a few big ones come out around the same time..

I'm picking up Shadow of the Tomb Raider on 14/09, as I loved the last 2, and hope to smash that in a couple of weeks prior to Horizon 4 (via Early Access) on 28/09..

I think Forza will see me for a while, the new Fallout really doesn't interest me unfortunately and RDR2, I can probably hold out until the Christmas hols to pick up and play..

These are all on PC at least.. the new Smash Bros is out for the Switch early December so that's an instant-buy - so much fun with multiplayer over the hols. We played Mario Kart over Christmas so much of the same with Smash Bros this year I think.. Few big games shown at E3 I'm looking forward to are Playstation exclusives and not due out until next year onwards..

Not sure if already mentioned, but Forza Horizon 2 is currently free on games with gold and is much better than I though it would be.

Apparently it is the real map.

Looks amazing anyway if it is.

It's smaller than FH3 map.
that was my only complaint about FH3, so on that basis I'm out

See I'm the other way. I prefer the smaller maps with more interesting, memorable roads. FH1 is still my fav map. Maybe I just don't play enough to commit the bigger maps to memory.

The other thing is you spend ages driving from place to place and making the map bigger means the roads are mostly more open and faster which IMO is les fun.

I like to just get on and cruise/explore for ages, loved the Crew 1 (when servers worked) for that reason

Odd, looks like the only major city in it is Edinburgh!

New / updated car list apparently leaked / found. Some new cars on there, most notably IMO is the new TVR Griffith!

Suppose they had to find a few new British cars to go in. When Horizon went to Australia we suddenly got a load of Holdens and Aussie fords didnt we?

What would we want as "The Brit car pack"?

Even though you can go 'anywhere' it does seem like there is a lack of roads and towns

I notice that the DB5, 1987 Vantage and Z8 are labelled as “Bond”

Are we going to have ejector seats and rocket launchers? I doubt it, what could they do to “Bond” them?

And if we are getting Bond cars I want a 750iL!!

Yep same as Horizon 3, it just gets really familiar really quickly

Just been doing updates on the Xbox. Loaded Horizon 2, which I haven't played for a very long time. Still had all the Forza Hub gift money to download that I'd used for the other Forza games. After a lot of going through the messages and downloading each one, I now have 44 million in the bank hehe .

Shame FH2 is being removed soon, no new downloads or dlc can be had after September, which means (I'm assuming) that rivals, leader boards, online play etc won't work either.
