Fallout 4 is by far my longest played game, it's the only game that I've ever bought and completed all of the DLC for. The longest period I've gone without touching it was when Far Cry 5 was released, but I returned straight back to Fallout whenever I wanted a nice chilled game for a couple of hours.

My second highest played game must be GTAV, I've made most of my online friends from there and right now most of my game time is split between Fallout and PUBG so I'm rather hopeful of the online element of 76. It's either going to be awesome or the biggest travesty of the decade for me, couple months to go if you fork out the extra £10 for beta thumbup

Anyone else getting this? It's out next week, isn't it?

I won't be and it will be the first Fallout game for years that I am not interested in.

Rightly or wrongly, the online element has put me off. I'm getting stuck back into Skyrim now instead.

I’m tempted but currently playing assassins creed and red or dead is out soon so doubt I’ll have time. I didn’t really gel with the last fallout game.

I was going to (pre-ordered for £32), but after watching the videos from the Greenbrier event, I cancelled. It seems to be too focussed on teams, and while it's possible to do it as a single person, it's a lot more difficult as some enemies are only really tackled in a group.

I'll wait until it's been out for a bit and see what the full game plays like, and how quickly private servers become available.

The first open BETA session was last night, did anyone play?

I've got BETA access, but wasn't staying up till midnight to align with the EST play window but am eagerly awaiting a more European friendly test session.

Next play window is Saturday night at a more UK friendly 10pm-12pm, I'm looking forward to sampling it.

I'm one of those that only found Fallout at FO3 and have been hooked since, yes FO76 is a break from that format, but I'm hopeful it'll still be interesting. I've still got FO4 to drop back in on for my single player kicks.

Likewise, I just rushed through the main story and then never bothered with it after that. The whole base building thing was arguably the worst part of the game, for me at least. Developing a game around that mechanic, then adding in the ability to grief others sounds like my own personal gaming hell. Time will tell but I'm thinking it should have been called Lord of the flies : online. Screaming kids running about in gangs, reckon solo will be utterly awful.

Initial impressions aren't great after reading this.

I've got red dead 2 turning up tomorrow, and I'm just finishing up a run of the witcher 3, I never intended to buy fallout 76, will see how it is received first.

Not interested either.

The open world story is the key to fallout and if 76 is just an open world with side missions and kids running about shooting each other doesn't do it for me.

Oh no Fallout 4 was good enough (the Mech bit was annoying mind but the actual game was good) - it is simply the online element which to me ruins the whole point of the "lone survivor" thing of the series...

Good points here from someone who's played the online beta - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAtBwZOC95Q

Particularly about the rushing about from others to get things first which you end up missing out on and people doing the same missions and clearing places out ahead of you so when you arrive there's no difficulty involved.

I don't think it works as a multiplayer.

It's just not a multiplayer game. It's all about the story from a single player perspective.

I won't be getting it. I like the idea of loading it up, working through the story or the side quests then turning it off and continung another time.

I'd have rather they just brought out a few new territories with different species and guns for PS4 users.

What it clearly needs is the ability to have private servers.

Imagine playing through it with a couple of friends who understand the Fallout series. Banding together and watching each others backs.

As a open server with anyone running around, no thank you.

Fortunate enough to play the beta this weekend, completely ‘solo’.

Only found others around towns e.g. the first town you arrive at after leaving the vault. Played for 3 hours in total over 2 different sessions and probably saw 6 people.

There are event quests dotted around that give good rewards and are a challenge on your own, but in all cases for me someone would appear and save me, do a stupid emote and disappear off.

Very much enjoyed it!

I am on PC so my first chance with this is tonight, anyone know the actual BETA times (UK) as my launcher says 9pm then Game spot says its 11pm and when I was trying to find a definitive answer I came across one that said 3AM on 31st for UK due to the time difference...

Interesting - they were having fun but yeah, that double time bug wouldn't be fun
