I think the list is good. It’s a shame it’s not destruction derby 2 though.

I think GT would of been a disappointment.

It's released tomorrow, anyone getting one?

I'm hoping they won't be sold out, gonna go get one tomorrow night. Looking forward to a bit of nostalgia play!

Anyone else?

Was tempted but the reviews are pretty disappointing, framerate issues, blurry 720p upscaled graphics. Seems the hardware isn't much good.

I doubt it will be sold out, because of the bad reviews, and number of people cancelling. I'm still getting one, but it's a Christmas present now. Will give it a try, but not that optimistic about it, it's a Christmas cash grab from Sony, and by all accounts, not a good one when compared with other offerings. I'm going to get the Mega Drive collection for my Nintendo Switch when that releases in a couple of days which will probably get a lot more play.

Watching the Digital Foundry review shows the emulation is pretty poor, so I'll pass

Cancelled my preorder as the games selection is weak, the reviews of the hardware are poor and Nintendo classics that I bought get zero playtime.

I've got mine today! Its so small haha.

Unboxed it with my 7 year old daughter and we started to have a play. She was as excited as me haha.

So far we've only played Destruction Derby and RR4.

Here's my first impressions:

Good stuff:
1) Very nicely designed. Even the buttons on the console have the same clicky feel as the original from 20 years ago (that I can recall!) lick
2) Controllers are just as weighty and as good as I remember them. clap
3) The games are just as immediately playable and fun as ever. driving

Stuff you forget about old consoles
1) RR4 doesn't actually come with the original Ridge Racer theme, cars and track. It did on the original game, but it was a bonus disc - Something I'd forgotten. RR4 is a million miles behind RR1 in my opinion and I was looking forward to playing the original with the music screaming out of the hifi. frown
2) Destruction Derby 1 is actually one player only. I think it must have been DD2 that was multiplayer frown
3) We had 4:3 screens back in the day of PS1. spin

But overall, still happy with the purchase as I knew I would be and still excited to play the other games tomorrow. My daughter also likes it. She has used a controller for the first time today for a driving game - quite entertaining watching her try to co-ordinate all the buttons and 'steering' on the driving games. biggrin

It's dreadful.

Unbelievable cynical Christmas cash in based on Nintendo's recent efforts. A quick play in the shop cemented my mind that cancelling my pre order was the right thing to do.

List of games is shocking too. Jumping flash ffs.

Exactly Remi

Made the least amount of effort they could, did nothing special except make a cheap plastic box, 20 games when you can get other similar ype consoles with tens of thousands of games on them based on raspberry stuff.

Just a cheap con, as usual from Sony.

I quite like the design, but on watching the gameplay on YT, they have just made the minimal amount of effort here for the maximum outlay, they veen used the same old controller!

But, if they sell hundreds of thousands of them, which they will because consumers are so utterly stupid, there will be new and ever more cheap versions on the horizon.

This does deserve to fail.

'Classic'. really?

Where is:

Tomb Raider
Resident Evil
Final Fantasy 7
Gran Turismo
Silent Hill

I haven't even heard of some games on this new cash grab.

Why would they not use the same old controller?

I'm not sure you get this retro stuff.

I agree there are far too many omissions, but RE and FF7 are on it.

I meant, you can't do anything with the controller except play the games, you can't switch on, do anything with it.

Retro fair enough, but at least make it do the same things the PS3 and 4 could, the tech can't be that pricey!

This is just a cheap sell. fair enough for the idea, but it ought to be 50 quid, not 100.

Those games would make it about ten times the price presumably.

People have been through the source code and found they did at least test the likes of GT, Crash and Tomb Raider on it

A week or so on since I've bought mine so thought I'd update this - and happy to say I am really pleased with it!

Tekken in particular is just as good as I remember. Of course, the graphics aren't up to modern standards, but the playability more than makes up for it. RR4 is a great two player for me and my daughter too, if not as good as the original (1 player only sadly) RR1.

Some of the other games are also a nice retro look back. Jumping Flash for example, was one that I particularly remember as being pretty advanced for its time. It had a free roaming world, which was pretty unique for the period. It doesn't translate well by modern standards, but nice to play for a short blast nonetheless.

Amazingly, Resident Evil still has the atmospheric edge-of-seat nature to the game. I was expecting rosey tints to have been shattered and for this to actually be a bit crap. Happily, it isn't!

Not really played any of the others yet, so plenty still to go at! I'm looking forward to Final Fantasy 7, although I have a feeling that might not be as fun as I remember it. I think RPGs have moved on to the point where this might be quite boring, but we'll see. If it isn't, then it will certainly be something quite involved to get into as its quite a long game I recall.

Also great news that it has been hacked and you can put your image files onto a USB. Only useful for 1 player games though as it uses port 2. I still have my original copy of Ridge Racer which I bought 20 years ago, and to my surprise in the case also was Ridge Racer revolution! So I turned these into images and they play perfectly on the classic.

Well pleased. I'm going to hunt out the Porsche Boxster game which I remember from back in the day and have a go on that too. Was gonna buy a PS4 before this came out, but going to hold off now as this baby has got lots of mileage left in it yet! smile
