I was looking forward to this but held off buying as I read mixed reviews, usually like them so will probably buy it but will wait for the price to drop a bit.

I just bought Forza Horizon 4 last week anyway so enjoying that at the moment, new COD out on Friday too and Read Dead not that far off!

Why do they release major games all around the same time? Spread through the year would surely be better for all sales?

Now about 15 hours gameplay time into this game, and have to say its growing on me. Now with some decent kit and armour the character looks less pathetic than at the start, but still the body movement isn't a touch on Horizon Zero Dawn. The open world is VAST though, absolutely enormous. Loved it when I got the ship off Kephallionia and had some naval warfare including ramming!

Definitely enjoying it more now, although still getting to grips with combat as often forget to use my special abilities - although one I have definitely used a lot is the Spartan Kick, great tactic for beating tough enemies, tempt them to follow you up onto a roof and as they come up kick them off laughrotate

I’m at about 35hours gameplay and enjoying it. I did a big stint of avoiding the main story line but I’ve gone back to just attacking that and avoiding the side missions.

Really enjoying it although if they got rid of mercenaries I’d be a lot happier!

I am up to level 15 with my character, I literally get an hour or so gameplay each night given other commitments! I actually like the mercenaries! Knock them off and they give up some really good kit to use :-)

I did the same though, done loads of side missions, raiding camps and caves etc. but got back to the main quest now and have activated the cult missions to go after...I am probably way behind most but dont have more than ten hours a week to throw at it.

So I’m 50+ hours into this (the most I’ve played my PS4 in years.) and I’m level 34, I spent half a day travelling to every lookout to sync and to every part of the map to unlock the PS trophy. Now I’m back to missions and life is a lot easier hoping via fast travel.

Same here, I've hardly used my PS4 for yonks but I've actually completed the main story of Odyssey, it's a great game. I've just started the Curse of the Pharaohs expansion. smile

Bought this for the PS4 last Friday - I'm much more of a PC gamer but wanted something I could play downstairs sat on the sofa (I do have the excellent Steam Link but it's a faff using mouse & keyboard on the sofa).

I've not played any of the previous AC games and I gave up on Witcher 3 after a few hours as I just couldn't get into it (despite having over 500 hours in Skyrim), so I wasn't sure how I'd get on with this, but I have to say I'm absolutely loving it!

I'm just over 14 hours in, at level 11, and despite the mostly horrendous voice-acting (what were they thinking?!), I am completely hooked. The combat is great fun, and I've found the controls surprisingly intuitive- even for the special abilities. It's something I normally struggle with, being firmly wedded to the mouse & keyboard for gaming, but the only thing I've struggled with on this is having R2 as the bowstring pull-back when the right-hand stick is also the one for aiming. Personally I'd prefer the 'hold' button to be on the opposite side to the stick used for aiming.

I'm really enjoying the mix of spotting / planning / stealth-kills / frantic combat when it all goes wrong - it's basically Metal Gear Solid 5 with swords and bows instead of guns biggrin

I just wish there was a way of automatically muting the sound during the dialogue parts - it sounds like a comedian who is exceptionally talented at accents, doing an impression of someone who is awful at accents trying to do the Greek accent... If that makes sense? rotate

After a shaky start I really am totally hooked too. I did start with the male lead character but as you said the voice acting is diabolical. So restarted the game losing about 2 hours of gameplay as the female lead and its an improvement. I was willing to lose 2 hours for the sake of the impending 100+ hours! Second time around though I managed to redo that 2 hours in about 20 minutes.

At the moment I am off the main quest track and just visiting islands and seeing what I can find...I am also enjoying ramping up my bounties and waiting for hunters to come find me, then using THIS IS SPARTA!!!! Kick to quickly despatch them off mountain sides/buildings for easy kills, the kit they drop is pretty good! Am still not bored of those finishing moves when you kill the last baddie...watching her go to town on the poor sap, chopping bits and finally plunging the sword in, quality!

I went with the male lead because all the footage I'd seen of the game beforehand featured the female, and I found her voice acting so bad I thought the male couldn't possibly be worse- we live and learn! hehe

I do like the fact that if you get caught sneaking around taking them out silently that it isn't the end of it, that you can still hack your way out. I tried playing The Last of Us and got so frustrated when I got spotted and it was game over.

I am a bit of a one trick pony though, have a very specific way of doing battle. Have got the Sparta Kick obviously, then the stun and knock back move which hits a radius around you. Got the second wind ability which is really good for conquests and the shield remove ability. Put that together with dodge and I can pretty much survive most onslaughts. There was one mission where you had to sink a spartan ship, I didnt clock straight away that my ship had appeared close by so instead swam over to their ship with about 30 soldiers on, climbed up and went to work...5 minutes later the entire lot were bird food! Mind you made sinking the ship easier when I worked out what to do...it couldnt defend itself without a crew lol

graphically it is outstanding. I have been to the Oracle of Delphi and the layout matches what i remember, they have done an amazing job on the visuals.

Anyone else have trouble with the bl@@dy Boar? Couple of levels higher than it now and it still kicks my butt. Seems to go mega savage when you're on the cusp of killing it.

Are you talking about the first legendary creature? If so I think I was level 20'ish when I first found it and it kicked my arse so I gave up. Came back with a legendary sword powered up to level 25 and took it down fairly easily. Just a lot of dodging and moving and hitting it once or twice before dodging again. Just try stay behind it and dodge to let it pass by when it charges you.

But yes, graphically its outstanding, the character animation when running looks bizarrely awkward but otherwise its visually amazing. That moment I took command of the ship and got the crew to row out in to the Agean I just sat there going WOW

Yeah, took it down at lvl 20, fairly easily, just needed to level up. Second wind is so helpful.

79 hours in and I hit level 50. Still so much to do but the story certainly keeps making me want to pick up the controller and play again.

I got a new PS4 Pro for this game and the graphics are amazing, I also don’t think my last PS4 saw more than 80hours in 3 years!

I am enjoying this one gripe. when you level up certain islands and challenges also level up. I know its to give you a challenge, but it is annoying when you see someone at level 25 when you are 22 only for them to become 28 when you are 25,

Am having to split my time between this and RDR2!!!

Yes, I am no hardcore gamer (being 51..), and loved Origins because it had good difficulty options. I am more interested (and happy) to soak up these virtual worlds without my controller dexterity being tested every few (virtual) yards. That's when it can get frustrating for me. At least in Origins, I had the option to not had the enemy AI level up to my limits.

Still really loving it (with around 60 hours in and level 49), but some aspects I still have trouble with.

There seems to be a ceiling on the level up though in terms of differences? In that they do change but its relative i.e. some of the easier early level stuff is always 2 levels below my current level so if I go back I can still breeze it.

Enjoying knocking off all the mercenaries at the moment, was at four red helmets for some time last night and they just kept appearing! What I did in the end was to knock their energy levels right down then stun them with stun arrows then once I had 3 or 4 on the floor recruit them to my ship they pop up as legendary lieutenants with great ship perks. Have also upgraded hull, arrows, fire etc. on the ship and now plundering the open seas...yarrrrr!

Guess it depends on where you live. I’m on 200mbps and got annoyed that they’re currently not offering 350mbps rofl
