Got given a raspberry pi with about 1500 retro games on it by a reanimated corpse.
By far the stand out game is star control (megadrive). Four hours on the multiplayer melee mode on Saturday night, how this escaped 14 year old me I’ve no idea.
I am naked as I write.
Used to love those Spathi BUTTs. There is a free HD remake of Star Control 2 called The Ur-Quan masters.By far the stand out game is star control (megadrive). Four hours on the multiplayer melee mode on Saturday night, how this escaped 14 year old me I’ve no idea.

Hoping on the 25th I can add RDR2 to that, can't wait.
Only if you have a decent internet connection. Running from disc means long installation and some big updates to download.I'd pop the disc in early and let it do its thing.
Only got back into PC gaming in the last 12 months and recently got myself a new PC so playing catchup.
The latest AC, Kingdom Come Deliverance, and Dishonoured games get a shout from me. Not sure if any of them were actually released this year but as I said, I'm playing catchup. From the sofa, with a controller.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey for me.
I swear, if it wasn't for the fact it's made by Ubisoft and yet-another AC game, this would be mentioned in the same breath as RDR2 in terms of setting new standards for gaming. The amount of content here alone is ridiculous: I'm 84 hours in and I've still got about 1/3 of the map left to explore and I'm far from completing the main quest lines. The graphics are simply beautiful (on PC at least, although I imagine a 4K setup to be even better), with some gloriously detailed areas to explore and I have yet to find any reused buildings or areas. The way the sun sets and rises with flare as appropriate, and the shadow usage is stunning: Go stand on a high peak somewhere, then use photo mode to see your realtime shadow cast from on top of your perch. Unnecessary, but wonderful.
It's the controls that they've absolutely nailed on though. I have yet to feel like any mis-jump or dive was anything other than my fault, it's perfect. Even the sailing stuff (which I really don't like) feels well balanced and natural. The lead character, Kassandra, is voiced perfectly and the acting and writing nails the period so very well.
If you haven't picked this up yet, you really should. It's a masterpiece.

Horizon Zero Dawn for me.
HZD was my Game of the Year... in 2017!This year? I enjoyed God of War, but didn't think it quite the all conquering experience that most others did. I've also played a lot of Monster Hunter World, but my most played this year is still Destiny 2. Well, since the excellent Forsaken expansion anyway. At launch, Destiny 2 was almost nothing short of a disaster, but the September expansion was somewhat of a return to the majesty that the original game captured in its final year.
I've actually not yet played Spider-Man, but everything I hear suggests it may well be the choice I would make if asked the same question in a few weeks time...
Astro Bot.
I don't own a PSVR, but sorely tempted for this game.
This game has rekindled my love for games.
Only other games I have truly enjoyed in the last 5 years were Last Of Us, Last Guardian and Zelda Breath of the Wild.
RDR2 is a chore fest, as is Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Spiderman imho.
Technically amazing, but just feels like a slogfest, bored straight away and didn't pick up.
Astro Bot to me is what gaming is all about. Definitely game of the year for me.
