First flight with my home made pedals. Delayed completion of them due to the final bits being held up coming from Germany and China.
Anyway they are all good. Only things I need to look at is the centering mechanism isn't very noticeable. Might need a way of making that more obvious. Need to look at sensitivity levels as well.

It's my birthday next week, so I've just ordered a Saitek Yoke and Rudder Pedals from Currys. They're cheaper new from Currys than second hand off eBay in a lot of cases. Should arive Saturday.Anyway they are all good. Only things I need to look at is the centering mechanism isn't very noticeable. Might need a way of making that more obvious. Working on my flightsim avionics panel and I was looking at the variables I needed to pull out of SimConnect and send to the RapsberyyPi. I noticed that there are variables for Concorde settings, Nose Angle, Visor Position. Anyone know if a proper Concorde is coming? Did a Google search and there seems to be some legacy ports from FSX but they all have problems. Wonder if MS are planning on adding a proper one or these variables are just left over from FSX SimConnect
Remember kids always RTFM. Spend most of yesterday searching for lat/long data for airports., VORs, waypoints etc. Found some "community sourced" stuff but it was incomplete. Anyway today I realised the SimConnect API will give you all that info for you. I dont even need to do the geometry to find nearby stuff, it will just give me the list!
Still that other data might be useful for creating a a FMS.
Got the layout done on the screens for a G1000. Started working on the buttons etc. Need to sit down with the sim and the pilot manual for the G1000 and complete each functional piece. That is going to take a while. I've got a couple of screens coming from China, resolution is slightly different to the G1000 but close enough and a RaspberryPI with 8GB of ram and dual 4k HDMI outputs.
I think I will need a config for the aircraft type, I can get some info from the sim but not all.
I see some company is selling G1000s for sims with NO SOFTWARE for £1.5K. Might see if they want to buy mine when I am done

Hmmm icing up is no fun is it? A quick hop between two mountain airports in chilea, I thought. Turns out the bonanza doesn't have any de icing on the wings or canopy, leading to an unsuccessful crash landing on a valley road while trying to see out of a 2" square clear spot in front of the other seat.

For airports, runways and navaids, ourairports.com offer data downloads that you can load into a database. Some slight inaccuracies but pretty comprehensiveCrutyRammers said:

I've just completed the Nevada bush trip and iced up a few times with no de-ice facility. I just ended up flying using the external view as it was impossible from inside the cockpit.Just as an aside, I admire anyone who can land a Spitfire on a runway. 5 attempts so far and none successful.

Another 17 Gigs!!
I've just updated, what the fk have they done to it, it looks like a cartoon, all the realism has gone from the scenery, the roads and rivers are just lifeless grey, it looks just like FSX now. Played 10 minutes of it in VR and turned it off, this is absolutely terrible.Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
