Probably something you already know, but I am finding https://flightsim.to/ to be the best source for freeware liveries, scenery, aircraft and everything. Create a login and it'll note what you download and you can check what you have downloaded and it'll flag up any that have been updated since.

The air race thing has not being getting good reviews from testers. At all.

But the free stuff is an amazing list of content. I'd be interested to know how the Porter came about, whether they bought it from someone near done or just decided to go for it.

I hadn’t seen that.

Tbh I think I’d buy it just for all the aircraft and the opportunity for some other activities to do in the game.

I know it’s the wrong attitude but so many parts of the game are a little broken or work in progress (like bush trips) but I still really enjoy them.

Porter looks ace and the roflcopter is the first helicopter for console players to use so that’s a bonus. The F18 must be better than the other marketplace jets like the f14 and f15 obviously the MBB is awesome but it’s quite slow.

Speed aside, the Hornet will have to go some to beat the JF Hawk T1. Every review raves about it. I'm sure it will be good still, and I will definitely* get the Reno pack once my SIM decides to not uninstall every time it updates! Should be awesome in VR

  • Unless the reviews are really crap

Started the upgrade, 33 GB it says, I guess that's just the base game as I didn't see any updates for the other regions.

Probably stop it tonight and finish tomorrow.

Yeah there’s an initial update and then when you open the game you do another for the world update(s) and some other bits, the whole things about 33gb.

Can’t remember how big the Reno bits were but it was a lot quicker I think. Obviously that’s a separate expansion that you buy.

I’ve really enjoyed doing some races, quite intense in the unlimited class, the Texan is far more relaxed.

The volocity is fun but I think if you start it on the stand cold and dark there’s no obvious way of getting it going so I started in flight or on the runway. It handles a bit like a blimp more than a helicopter I’d say but great for flying around checking thinks out. Obviously pc users will have had other helicopter options already.

As ever there seems to be some new bugs replacing some old ones. Apparently bush trips are fixed but I’ll believe it when I see it.

Brighton and that area looks awesome with the new photo scenery.

Kept saying I’d crashed!

Maybe you can only get through going slowly? hehe

I couldn't do it in a spitfire either? Assumed it was just an invisible wall in the building.

I think different aircraft have different size crash detection zones?

You can definitely fly though it in many of the light singles. Pretty sure I’ve been through it in the Aermacchi MB-339 which is bigger than the spitfire.

I’ve got the London orbx pack so maybe that’s something to do with it?

i've not tried Tower bridge, but there is a definite obstruction flying through Golden Gate bridge. I usually have crash damage off as I get annoyed by stupid ground vehicles killing my flight.

Anyone tried the new IFR navigation training? Just done the ILS approach training twice and each time the instructor shouts "watch out!" just as I softly touch down on the runway, and it then says I've crashed. Not impressed.

Same here did it twice and said I’d failed (the ILS)

Think it’s just borked.

Fun seeing loads of C172s all flying around Shetland doing the lessons though. hehe

With the lack of variety, no Bearcats, no Sea Furies a pack of 10x Mustangs, 10x T-6, 10x L-39 and 10x Biplanes in the Reno pack (basically 4 aircraft with different liveries) is still over priced at £50 but apparently it's 86% off, the original price is £350!. I bet it won't ever go "back" on sale for £350 and if it does no one will buy it.

The aircraft are pretty simple too, many switches in the cockpit are non-functional. So I'll wait for a proper P-51 release from A2A.

Have you tried the Mustand in DCS ? The Civvy Stang is free and great fun to blast around in.
