Thinking of a cheap ish sim rig project over winter, currently got an xbone, gaming laptop and PS3, so thinking I'll go for the G920 and upgrade as I go.

I have a spare seat in the cupboard I will be using, and I'll be self building a wooden demountable frame.

So, show me whatcha got.... I need inspiration.

This is my Obutto Ozone. I was going to get a playseat but I would have had to buy a stand for the TV. I saw people were suggesting these and for the £70 or so more I thought it was worth it.

Having used it, it’s way better than the playseat I tried. Having the screen that close is good too. I’ll be upgrading the screen at some point as that one I just had sat in the loft. The Xbox sits under the seat out of the way.

mines hangs off the side of the desk and gas monitor arm swings one of the monitors out to meet it so its completely out the way in normal use. I was getting tired of moving it around, and now I can just cable tie all the cables out the way etc.

I use VR so the monitor is just for menus and dicking about with stuff before/after races.

Here's mine:

These photos were taken last year, some big upgrades are on the way this year. Just ordered a Simucube 2 direct drive wheel, pre-ordered the new Valve Index VR headset and the race rig PC is getting a new motherboard and CPU biggrin

my set up is a Playseat Evo, CSL base, handbrake, H + sequential shifter, load cell pedals, F1 style steering wheel and BMW GT2 replica Steering wheel. gloves are to ensure the alcantara on both wheels stays nice. Did have transponders on the rig but the shaking was annoying my little one getting to sleep. Also use to race in VR but have ditched that as I prefer the graphics over immersion so now thinking of a triple screen set up and a new permanent rig in the garage for when I get kicked out of the spare room if we have another baby.

Dont use it often enough, kind of bored with the games I have (original Project Cars and Dirt Rally), looking into getting some new games to get me interested again.

I help run a really fun and friendly racing league using rfactor 2. If you fancy it, you're more than welcome to join in, we race every Friday evening. Have a look at sig-racing.boards.net

This thread didn't quite go the way I planned hehe

Some awesome setups there chaps, but a little out of my reach for what at best will be a few hours on a weekend through the winter.

I have rfactor2, spintyres, Forza 5 and 6, and Horizon 3. As much as I'd love to go with iRacing, cost vs use is prohibitive for me.

Need to draw up my plans and get my cut list done. Planning 1in X 3in wood (I'm only a lightweight) and decking screws. Aiming for as cheap as possible in case I get bored quickly.

No pictures of it, but I sit on a cushion on the floor, steering wheel attached to the coffee table with a cushion stuffed behind the pedals to stop them moving.

Well its funny you say that because that very nice looking setup I posted above mainly sits and collects dust. I was kind of hoping it would fill the void of not having a car, but ultimately, it's not really all that similar to real driving, and driving around in circles (which most games are) isn't really my idea of fun... hence I'm going to try FH4 and see how I get on with it. I've thought about going VR to finish it off and maybe make it more exciting, but will it just be more stuff that collects dust?

That being said my setup isn't that expensive! I already had the computer. The monitor arm was £100, the chair I already had, the steering wheel and pedals were £130 and the frame was about £80 IIRC. If you've already got the computer then it wouldn't take much to turn it into a setup like mine. The other posted setups are MUCH more focused than mine smile

Before I got the Playseat Challenge I had a similar setup with a coffee table but also using one of the kids little Ikea chairs to get me low enough for the coffee table. If you have a small bottom it could work for you.

Another Ikea seat lash-up for use with TV and PS4. Been going for quite a few years now and "adjustable" with the meaty Velcro straps :-). Under the wooden arms I have fitted PVC foam tape so it sits snuggly and doesn't scratch the wood (or move).

Yeah I saw that one, doesn't look comfy, although it probably is.

I'd need to buy a router, or just jigsaw the outer and leave the fancy holes alone.

idea why don't you build two? wink

I've got an Obutto Ozone with a 12 way adjustable seat from an Audi A7. I managed to not set off the airbag when hooking up the electrics too! laugh

I do like the climb in aspect Steve. I imagine it gives that F1 feel?

I currently have neither a seat or a chair. I am on the floor with the wheel between my knees.
