Latest patch notes:

https://www.reddit.com/r/modernwarfare/comments/dv...

Main thing is reduced range on 725, moved flag B on Picadilly, some tweaks to footstep sounds.
Nice, hopefully now you'll actually be able to be a bit sneaky without the elephant footsteps laugh

Totally agree, SBMM is the one thing I think lets this game down.
Is that because you do not want to play against people as good as you or better than you?
Call of Duty is a casual game I shouldn’t have to try ridiculously hard every game just to keep a positive KD and win. It also puts me in games with much higher ping because it has to look for players of a similar skill level.

Plus the way it has to find a new lobby every match is terrible, they need to bring back the old lobbies and map voting.

When I first picked up the game I jumped on with a mate who plays on PC who is incredibly good at the game and I was getting nailed. Literally straight after said to him let me try going in to my own lobby without you, and it was 100 times better where I was able to actually play without getting hammered. Jumped back in with him, same thing happened.
Isn’t that the other way around though, with skills based you won’t get hammered by the better players if it matched the skills better? You need the best players with the best and worst with worst...fairer playing surely?

I am lost, sorry if being dim. Is skills based not trying to put you in with similar skilled players? Not higher level. Surely we should be playing with people of similar skill? If not then it is not skill based.

Making it really basic, bad players do not get matched with good players if it works....my point is that it doesn’t work well enough.

This is my point, it doesn’t need turning off, it needs fixing as I get put against players with 50 kills, I have never got to 20. If they turn it off surely it only gets worse.

I think the players with "friends" are saying it matches the best player in the group to the opposition, not the weakest link but turning it off does not fix it, they just need to make it better and use the average, not the best?

Yeah this is exactly my point, it's supposed to even everything out but if matches the best player in the group the others are screwed. I agree turning it off isn't the solution, it needs to be tweaked.

It shouldn't prioritise the skill level over ping though, which it currently is. Should always be matched with the people with the best connection.

If the match making does exist it explains why I am pretty good when on my own but awful in a group. I always had it down to not concentrating as much as im chatting with a headset on.

Point is you do have to try hard. It's no longer casual.

After working all day and being brain-dead I have to jump in at 5pm ish to compete with a load of level 145 cool kids and try compete with them and I can't. I know with a bit of practice on a weekend, a few coffees and I'm ok I'll end up ranking up the top. But I can't invest my weekend like I did 10 to 15 years ago, I have a house and garden to attend to. And a wife. It's not enjoyable jumping into killhouse and getting no kills.

God I wish I could go back.

This cod is a different game to the others. 3 tips that improved my kd was.
1. Avoid the middle of the map
2. Pick the right weapon, smg for small maps etc
3. Changing the button layout to L1 aim R1 fire. (This one seems to be the biggest factor).

I have seen that said before. Also increase the reaction / sensitivity which makes your player much faster in reaction to your inputs.

After playing the kill house a lot I have improved in the main game a bit but still seem to hover around 10 kills when others have 50.

One annoying thing in the kill house is people are using fast jets to kill everyone on the map and you re-spawn and get killed again by the same airstrike...surely you should not be able to bring in air support over the whole flippin map, the kill house is not for that.

So yes, you want to play people less good than you so it is "more casual" (read easier for you - not so easy for them). So you can end games 20 kills 5 deaths and they can end games 5 kills 20 deaths.

Well no. Every other cod I’d have a game where I went 20 to 5 once every 3/4 games. This cod I can only do that if I do absolutely terrible for a few games (because of the SBMM) so it puts me in lower skill level lobbies.

Saying get rid of SBMM might be a bit over the top I admit but the way it is at the moment is ridiculous because I know if I have a good game it’s gonna put me in a lobby with much higher skilled people in the next game, thats another reason the old lobby system with map voting needs to come back imo

Problem with map voting is the same old maps get played over and over again.

They need to do something, there are 3 maps for Ground War apparently yet I keep hitting the same one over and over again

Hardpoint mode is good fun though

Tried a little GW when I first started playing and was absolutely outgunned by everyone. Really should give it another go now that I’ve levelled up a bit.

Play every other mode except S&D and Cyber but got fed up with people not playing the objectives and camping it out for killstreaks.

TBF though, some of the challenges to complete in the Barracks are going to be nigh on impossible for me to complete. Don’t really like the way that the you need to activate the challenge before stats count towards it either.

Sure, I may get a 15 kill streak at some point but the odds of me having the right challenge selected at the right time means it’s never going to happen.

Much preferred completing certain challenges unexpectedly in the older COD’s.

I finished the Campaign today and thought it was very good. They managed to tell a story but as usual the linear style of the game is there.

That fking Juggernaut!! I"m sure the game took pity on me and made him die after i tied about ten times biggrin

I'd have loved to have seen more involvement with vehicles / flying things. Ground assault stuff is great fun but i like the idea of some air to ground combat.

I fired up MP and as i expected i died instantly, every single time. I"m just nowhere good enough for even the simplest maps. I"ll persevere though.

Having real issues with the skill based match making, it’s not so much the players I’m up against but the matches I’m getting into where my ping is insane. Flip to a game mode I haven’t played much of and I get a much better connection and do very well...

In my opinion the matchmaking should be connection based.

After a few levels you’ll unlock the M4 which seems to be most people’s go to gun. Use it for a few rounds and you’ll unlock the suppressor. Things improved immediately after that for me.

MP5 is fast to ADS without a scope, think that unlocks pretty early on too.

Ground War is just pretty mental until you’ve unlocked some kit and figured out what you’re doing.
