What vr setup do you have?

I ask because with a wired and sensor system it is indeed too much of a faff, and that's before the system insists on updates every time you fire it up, and then argues that the usb 3 ports you used last month are now usb 2. That was the rift experience for me.

I now have the quest 2 and it is a totally different ball game. No sensors, no cables. Totally wireless. Power on and play. Want to play a pc vr game? Launch Oculus on the pc, tick one box to enable wireless pc vr and then put the headset on and enable it. Brilliant.
Yep we’ve got the valve index VR kit, which as you say covers both the player and the room in cables, not to mention the only room we have spare that’s big enough to give the play on area is the formal dining room in our house, and Mrs P only allowed that for about 3 months!

I won’t be buying another VR headset though, just can’t justify it!
Quest 2 really makes the world of difference.

Zero 'VR faff' for native games (which are surprisingly good) - just pickup and play, you are in the game about 2-3 minutes from grabbing the headset.

Minimal faff for PCVR .. works great in Wireless either via the official Oculus Airlink or (my preference) Virtual Desktop app. Virtual Desktop super-easy to use, just run the server on the PC (can be set to autostart) and you can hop in from the app on the Quest,. Games (Steam VR and Oculus) are auto-detected and placed in a handy menu inside the Quest VD app or you can make the software live up to its name and run a virtual Windows desktop in your headset.

It's not strange. We simply differ - always felt the thick heavy cable sitting down over my choulder (I remember it often got caught in a gap where my chair arm met the back of the chair), and it was a huge pain standing up. I move around plenty. Just the rubbing of it against my neck removed me from the immersion.
I'm with you on the cablephobia.

I started with PSVR and the cable with that was a nightmare and a major part of the faffing around. Very detectable when you were playing and always the worry that you'd trip over it, catch it on something or pull it out.

First using wired USB on PC - less intrusive when playing (still there though) but always the worry of catching it or pulling it out and damaging headset or USB port on the PC.

Wireless (anywhere in the house) on Quest2 - heaven.

Good to see there are people who hate the cable and people who don’t give a crap biggrin

I'll definitely try that when I finish Alyx.

I've just got past the part in the hotel where the teleporting crab gave me a really hard time. I might have used 30 rounds and a grenade, so could be in for a tough time in the next section. I liked the way after getting some decent hits in it started whimpering and limping, giving me a clue that what I was doing was working.

I never finished the first Bioshock, I loved the setting, graphics were great for the day and the water was amazing. The game just went on too long.

Just a heads-up for anyone that doesn't have this yet - it's now £20 on Steam.

I had a quick go yesterday (ten minutes) and it's fantastic. I'm playing on a Pico 4, wireless, 4070-based PC. Can't wait to get back on it later!
