Played this quite a lot on my outgoing PC - can't wait to jump back in when my new one is built (very soon!), I find it really good escapism.

I downloaded about a dozen custom vehicles but I found that the ones I got were really OP - like a H2 Hummer that was literally unstoppable and a 16-wheeler land tank that could virtually climb mountains laugh

It was fun being able to traverse anything but took the challenge away, so I'll be going back to vanilla when I load it back up, or at least finding some visual-only custom vehicles.

Weirdly enough I downloaded this at the weekend. Loving it so far, very aesthetically pleasing.

Only gripes so far are some things just being a bit awkward. Had a task to deliver 2x logs then 2x metal tubes for example. I was closer to collecting the tubes (2nd in the list) so went and collected them, but it wouldn't let me drop them! I also couldn't deposit some steel containers I recovered out a river. Dropped it in the zone, nothing was happening. Picked it up with the crane again and then through the UI menu clicked remove cargo just for that to mean actually deleting the cargo hehe

Great fun though.
Some you have to do in order, some you don't.

If the loads show up in white then you can collect/deliver them. If the next stages are grey it usually means you have to do them in order.

I pretty much only play with the JBE trucks nowadays. They're much improved, but not OP to the point where everything is easy (depending on your tyre choice). I found that some of the missions were becoming too much of a grind for me, and took away some of the fun of the game.

Nope, if you download all the game updates you'll have access to the Mod Browser on Xbox (I play on Xbox One too).

Oh oh... this could become a problem.

Can you tell me how it all works? (Imagine you're talking to a complete idiot who can barely operate a controller... paperbag)

It's the only game I keep coming back to. Even though it can be incredibly frustrating I think the relaxed nature of the game, with no real rush to do any missions/tasks, just works for me when I can only jump on for 30 mins here and there.

I managed to get 100% completion in 4 maps (Michigan, Alaska, Taymyr and Kola Peninsula). I'm just working my way through the Yukon as well but now they've brought logging gameplay in, I'm no longer 100% on the other maps so I must go back to complete them!
I’ve been playing this non-stop since I got it in January; usually just for an hour or two to chill. I like to put on a podcast or two and just work through some tasks.

Got Michigan and Alaska pretty much completed, the first map in Russia and halfway through the Lake Kovd map, although that one is brutal. Drop off zone for 2x metal beams was on a steep slope with only one way to get into the box and kept tipping my truck over - took 4 attempts before I almost rage-quit for the evening!

I thought I replied to this last night, but apparently not! All you need to do is go in the mods menu from the main menu, subscribe to the ones you want (X) and once they're downloaded activate the ones you want to play with (A). Trucks will be available to buy in the garage and maps will be available to play when you start a new game and select Custom Campaign (I think).

You have to sign up on mods.io first, activate your account, then enter your e-mail into the pop-up window when you click on 'mod browser' in the game's main menu.

TBH I eventually got in but the mods list is hard to navigate. I downloaded a few but they never showed up for me in the game - I went from map to map in case they were map specific but nothing. But my game did start crashing a lot more, so I ended up making sure every mod was uninstalled and it's been fine since. I know there is a huge mod community on PC; I'm not sure if it works quite as well for consoles.

I don't remember signing up, but maybe I just blocked it out! it's weird that you have to download the mods first, then activate them afterwards as a second step. I can't say I've noticed more crashing but I could just have been lucky.

One annoying thing is that if it tells you mods are missing before you load the game, you need to make sure you go in the mods menu to make sure they are activated. I lost my trailers mod but didn't check when I loaded the game as I know I had deleted a truck I didn't like anyway, but when the game started I didn't have any of the trailers I had dotted around the place, or any of the cargo that was on it!

I just spent hours using a 5-pallette trailer hitched up to an eight-wheel-drive Russian crane truck, to pick up some fuel canisters that had been washed down a river. I'm certain that a couple of extra journeys with a light truck or even a scout with a little flatbed would have been far, far more sensible; I spent a good half-an-hour just precariously winching my huge truck with a fully-loaded long trailer up a rutted incline that was more like a bridal path.

Finally getting the thing onto the tarmac at the top, then circling up the road towards the drop-off point, the sun was setting. And as I looked across the valley I'd just spent hours fighting through the estuary mud in, I realised could see the huge circles and figure-eights that I'd made in the deep mud whilst trying to crane the palettes out of the silt without getting myself stuck in an unwinchable zone.

It's ridiculous how rewarding this slow, plodding game can be! hehe

Just wait until you get the tasks that specify the vehicle you have to use. Where a scout would be perfect for the terrain, the game will demand the biggest, slowest truck you've got frown

There was me thinking Russia looked a bit like a slightly communist Michigan; surely easier than all the snow that Alaska brings?

Nope. Russia is literally made of sludge...

Saw a wolf last night - appeared out of nowhere, I nearly spilt my Lucozade in shock. hehe

I’ve been trying to make inroads in Lake Covd but given its 99% deep snow with hardly any solid ground it’s really tough going. Main objective for me was to find the AWD upgrade for the Twinsteer so finally found that and going to go back to Russia to do some less stressful snowrunning!

Btw has anyone completed the final mission in Michigan - the oversized containers from the ship? I’ve tried and tried to get a tractor/trailer combo around that first bend with the deep water and steep slope but no matter how I tackle it I tip and the cargo rolls off into the trees. Was hoping to get the twinsteer in there (hence the AWD) but I think it’s impossible to even get that long beast of a thing onto the small island where the ship is!

I've found that the Ford is good for getting around Lake Covd with chained tyres - I used it to get all the upgrades on both maps before leaving!

For the oversized cargo - [removed incorrect crap], I tried it a couple of times with the twinsteer and it just falls over, I took the Tayga and the rear-ramp flatbed trailer and aced it. There is a guy on YouTube too the Freightliner 114SD and two of those trailers together so you’re not having to go back and forth.

I've just found the ANK MK38 and it's a monster; amazing off-road, just tears through anything even with no upgrades.

It does love to flip over though.

Thanks to this thread I can already see the many hours of my life that I'm about to sacrifice! I have just downloaded the game.

Any tips for someone just starting out?

For me, I tend to go and get all the watchtowers then go to each task and accept them (not complete them) to see what they involve. You'll find some there are some tasks that you can complete whilst you're travelling from place to place, or completing another mission and others open up new roads and such which is always handy.

I never bothered buying trucks at all (which was a bad idea really) but you can buy and sell for the same price so it's free to experiment with different trucks.

Trailers are worth money so if you're after another truck you can bring trailers back to the trailer store to sell.

Don't rush to find where all the upgrades are, where to find the best trucks, etc. The progression is really good in this I feel and if your trucks are too good too fast you probably won't find it rewarding (everything will be too easy!).

When you're opening a new map, it's usually a good idea to explore it to get the lay of the land, and find out what bridges need repairing before you can complete other missions. That being said, there is usually a way around the obstacles, though it's not the most straight forward!

You won't have much cash to start with so don't worry too much about buying trailers, there are a few dotted around the maps which you can use.

Lastly, don't forget that you can sell trucks for the same as what you paid for them, so you can try upgrades and trucks without worrying about wasting money.
