I don't think it'll improve until towards the end of the year. Originally I thought by April it'd all be sorted but it's nowhere near atm due to the shortage of supply.You might stand more of a chance once everything reopens, consoles might be the last thing that people want.
I just had this guy running in the background, when the siren went off it meant the shops had stock. Got two this way.

Honestly it's better to follow the youtube feed I posted, have it on in the background, they discuss whats dropping and have a siren go off when they drop, they also have links to the direct page rather than the holding page.

Apart from using a bot, this is probably the next best way of trying to nab one, if you really want one.

Argos released stock at 1am and I managed to grab one, it arrived less than 7hrs later which is mighty impressive. It showed as Out of Stock through the whole process but the function to purchase it was live so I just took a punt and paid via PayPal in the full expectation of getting a cancellation email but lo and behold, the console arrived as agreed.
I got one from Amazon a week or so ago, I got a notification from the hotstock app - the only time its actually been prompt in doing so!
Handy as I had a bunch of vouchers for amazon to use.
The youtube stream that Sheets linked above went off shortly after the hotstock app, so anyone still looking I'd use a combination of those two.
now all we need is some games
GTA5 looks and runs better, GT Sport about the same I think, Assetto corsa competizione benefits the most in that its pretty much usable now. Next gen version of that coming apparently.
If you haven't seen, Watch Dogs : Legion is free to play on PS5/4 and Xbox this weekend. Generally poor reviews, but I guess you get what you pay for..
