Finally got my email to complete my ordered today, I pre-ordered it 12 minutes into the window opening, that's how far into the pre-orders they are laugh

I got mine too, as much as I wanted one I'm tightening my belt for a house purchase. Could always stick it on ebay...

Well it turned up today, it’s flipping amazing! Could do with the money from selling it on, but it’s too bloody good.

I ordered last October (512GB), which I appreciate is very late in the day to be thinking about delivery any time soon, so I'm not overly worried, but this is a bit odd..

If I log in: estimated delivery for my order is 'After Q3 (October 2022 or later)'

If I log out: estimated delivery for new orders is 'After Q3 (October 2022 or later)'

Does that mean they basically have no idea when orders will be fulfilled for every order made in the past 7 months AND those that are made now (as in, today)?

Just had a look on eBay (out of interest) and actual sold prices aren't as obscene as I had expected, in fact some people appear to be barely making any profit at all.

You are probably right, they don't really know.

I ordered Day 1 and my delivery date is currently Q3 July - September.

Pleased to report that Gran Turismo 4 runs pretty darn good with the PCSX2 emulator. Been playing that, and Half-Life 2 mainly.

Same here ... though it was rather late in the day as I ummed and aahd a bit about ordering.

They clearly have a rough idea for the initial batch of orders (inside a 3-month window) which they are confident they can achieve .. but after a point it's likely 'best efforts'. Given the supply chain madness going on - which has been made even worse by China's latest batch of COVID lockdowns - I would guess that the further out your order is, the more uncertain the eventual fulfillment date will be. If ever. Personally, I'll be happy if I get mine anywhere within the Jul-Sept window that they have given.

Of course, if it really takes a long time then there are some cracking new AMD integrated mobile GPUs with Zen3 (vs Zen2 in the deck and up to 8 cores) and RDNA2 cores (same as the deck, but a few more CUs) about to come out and it may be that I opt to go for a more powerful, small laptop based on one of those if I see a suitable model available first.

Docking station delayed, they are working to improve compatibility with other USB C hubs and external screens.

Not sure i'll go through with my preorder now I'm losing interest a bit. I might put the cash towards a 4000 series GPU and wait for the next iteration of Steam Deck if there is one ...

Yep the rate of deliveries is really discouraging.

Not quite sure whether that's a slow and steady valve "strategy" or just general supply issues.

It's still, in my opinion, a far superior order system to the scalpers delight that has been the PS5.

It's genuinely first come first served and up till now it doesn't seem that we've had a situation where we've been absolutely flooded with overpriced stock on the secondary market. Weed out the clearly fake 0 feedback sellers on eBay and there are currently only a handful for sale.

I have to admit though, as time goes on the temptation to bail on it does grow. Waiting a year for one is a long, long way away from being an impulse purchase so it does give time to consider whether I'll actually use it much! Worse case scenario I guess I'm unlikely to lose much on it if I realise I'm barely using it.

I think they are more or less delivering when they said in the pre-orders, although the first batch was late. Mine is still essentially 'Q3' as it was the day I made it. I would expect more likely late Q3 than early.

As I thought, there are now some excellent new mobile Ryzen APUs out from AMD, some of which are definitely more powerful than the one in the Steamdeck though as yet, haven't seen any reasonably priced small laptops featuring them. So if I see a good small laptop before I get my 'confirmation of readiness' email I might yet go for one of those instead.

Otherwise, the deck is actually exceeding my expectations now I see all the real-world reviews from end users. Gaming performance, especially with the tweaks available in the OS, is very acceptable and it should be possible to use it as a secondary PC for day to day stuff as well from what I see (it's more powerful than the small fanless 'MeLe' box I am typing this on, and I'm very happy with the performance of that as a second box).

I'm on the fence as well. £500 is a lot of money for something that unlikely to get much use. We already have a NSwitch and multiple ipads, PSNow and Steam remote play installed.
I suppose I could use it on the sofa when the wife is watching her TV programs and the boy is in my gaming room.
