Quite fancy a steam deck now I have had to get rid of my desktop set up. When I log in to Steam it says all variants out of stock but it say this product is not available for reservation in your country.
I am in the Channel Islands. When they come in stock how could I buy one and ship it to an agent in England for onward delivery. Steam knows my location because of my address and cannot seem to change it to the agents address.

Could your "Aunt" setup a new Steam account and enter her "delivery" address?I am in the Channel Islands. I was sat next to a bloke on a flight across the Atlantic this week with a Steam Deck. What was surprising was he was using these little AR glasses that looked like Oakleys?
I must say you look a bit of a willy wearing them but hey, he was the one with Elden Ring in HD and I was reading Evo magazine...

Steam Deck OLED improves a whole bunch of stuff, a very tempting upgrade from my 256 model.
Bigger better screen
Bigger battery
Lower thermals
Lower power consumption
1TB option

I had a quick look, I dont think I will upgrade.
The screen is not really much bigger only a tiny bit and I am happy with the resolution at the moment . The other upgrades are nice but dont change the experience IMO.
If I didnt have a deck I would 100% get the OLED. But as I do then I dont see the point in £500 to get a new screen.

A couple of months ago a third party company brought out a better display priced at $99 that has better resolution and colour gamut.
I wonder if the OLED panel will be backwards compatible with the gen 1 deck?
I'm content with my deck, especially after the OS 3.5 update but would have been tempted to change for the newer version had they updated the processor to that used in the ROG Ally.

I’ll be stick as I am however my biggest gripe is the lack of extending the screen quality to a TV screen and keeping the great graphics of the steam deck. I use mine more like a desktop which I know isn’t what most people have brought this for however I’m currently looking at the GeForce Now option to run through the Deck to improve quality.
It's the best referesh ever - improved in almost every area but still clearly a variant of the original model. Thus, gives new buyers much more for the money - so will keep sales going and the platform viable for existing owners.
Also bodes very well for what they'll do when its time to produce a real v2.0 model.
Valve yet again show everyone else how to do it. I can't wait to see what they do with the Deckard VR headset .. I am holding off on upgrading my Quest2 until I see what they come out with.

What would make me even happier would be if Valve also got around to proper global distribution.
I'm happy to have privately imported an original one to get my hands of the new and shiney thing but seems silly to have to keep doing that now they've sold millions of them.
Going to be interesting to watch Nintendo's strategy over the next year leading to Switch 2's release.

I'm looking at getting one of these. I never bothered first time around as I thought I'd wait for the second run, the initial launch just seemed a little 'beta' though I realise the software has been ironed out and is now highly regarded. Been playing a bit on son's Switch and I love the form but most of my gaming is PC based so this would suit me perfectly and I feel it would be the right time for me to jump in.
My main question is about the difference between mid and top level. It seems it is basically just more storage, slightly different screen coating and better carry case? Anyone got any thoughts on whether the anti glare screen is worthy of the extra 90 quid? I can't see storage being a major factor as I think half a TB will be plenty for my needs (I don't think I'll be using this for 'AAA' type titles, more to clear my long and growing backlog of older games and indies) so it mainly comes down to the 'premium anti-glare etched glass' screen for me.

If you are using indoors then probably not worth it. First thing I did on mine was fit a screen protector that pretty much killed any benefit anyway My main question is about the difference between mid and top level. If I was buying the newer model wouldn’t be a priority 2nd time round.

Nice one, yes I would definitely be getting some sort of screen protector on there.
Thinking further on it though, the additional storage seems pretty reasonable on its own, if you compare it to, say, an iPhone, where the difference between 512GB and 1TB is £200!
Yeah it’s not too bad I bought a 1tb card for mine and I can’t see any difference at all in loading times between that and the internal drive !Thinking further on it though, the additional storage seems pretty reasonable on its own, if you compare it to, say, an iPhone, where the difference between 512GB and 1TB is £200!
