Wow ok doesn’t sounds like the sort of thing I’m a fan of.
Can you explain to me how to just race an arcade race?
I’ve had it on for 15 mins now and all I’ve been able to do is watch a tedious intro video and now some woman talking me through the world. I’ve had to buy a crap car and look at it in my garage then go to a cafe.
All I want to do is race a corvette zr1 around Goodwood. Please tell me I can do that without spending months on what I imagine is some sort of career mode?
You won't have to spend months, but you will have to go through a certain amount of st. From memory, do the cafe menus to progress, you can also do the licences and challenges in the top left. But doing the cafe menus opens things up, iirc, more higher level cars to buy, races and tracksCan you explain to me how to just race an arcade race?

Sorry, it's a year since I did this

So if I had a mate round my place tonight I couldn’t just load up a two player race in any cars I wanted on any track?! That’s basically why I bought it, I don’t really care about career mode for now, I just want to drive Goodwood and Brands Hatch.

Just googled it, you need to complete cafe menu 9 before you can do that, don't know what it means about the cars you can race:

Gotta say I’m pretty pissed off by that. https://racinggames.gg/gran-turismo/how-to-play-2-...
Imagine buying Fifa and finding you couldn’t play your mates until you’d unlocked a load of st

It's a love/hate relationship
I've played it an awful lot but there's still lots that annoy me.

They're not asking you to spend real cash to access the core of the game, but there are little extras like engine swaps that you require luck to get access to.
The 'invitation to purchase en exclusive supercar' is bazaar.
The thing is, if they just gave you 10k credits for doing 26 miles each day, people wouldn't be unhappy. But they dangle the chance of winning cars or engine swaps, then 80% of the time just give 10k of cash (or there abouts).
If you can ignore the "this is what you could have one" roulette tickets, it's a very good driving game. Play through the licence system and the menus, and you will have loads of cars and credits. After that there are lots of traditional GT type races to get stuck into.
However, it does expect you to work through career mode to unlock everything. So not great as a stand alone occasional arcade racer.
The 'invitation to purchase en exclusive supercar' is bazaar.

So I'm right in thinking in order to just sit down and play a quick race on any track I want from the game I'm going to have to have unlocked it first through career mode? The 'invitation to purchase en exclusive supercar' is bazaar.

And in terms of wanting to use any car I like in an arcade mode, am I going to have to have bought them all? I imagine there are hundreds of cars, I don't imagine people buy every single one do they?
I don't overly mind playing a career mode, I'm sure it'll be fun, but I am disappointed there's no point my best mate coming round tomorrow night for a game as I won't have unlocked anything!
The first few cafe menus don't take long to get through.
And actually reward with cars you can use in the next menu to save having to buy loads of silly shopping cars
Not actually done much in the way of arcade mode, so no idea if it is like previous GT games and allows you to choose from the games garage

From my limited playing time so far, it doesn't seem like that's an option! Which really does baffle me as I assumed this game was used by serious IRL drivers who wanted to perfect their skills on certain tracks....which clearly isn't an options, certainly not from the start. UTH said:

Played a bit at lunch and luckily made some pretty quick progress on the cafe challenges - pleased to see Goodwood and Brands Hatch were unlocked quickly. Issue now is that I only have st cars to drive on them, and I really want the Corvette ZR1.....I assume that's going to cost mega bucks, I've not even looked.
One thing that baffled me a bit is that the first races I did at Brands and Goodwood to win the cars for the cafe, I was able to drive in my Clio Cup Sport which absolutely annihilated the rest of the pack I was racing against......seemed pointless?

At launch one of the big complaints was the game was unbalanced, in terms of the rewards vs the challenge. The attempts to redress this resulted in some races that were to easy, or the prizes overly generous. It's still a mixed mag.One thing that baffled me a bit is that the first races I did at Brands and Goodwood to win the cars for the cafe, I was able to drive in my Clio Cup Sport which absolutely annihilated the rest of the pack I was racing against......seemed pointless?

Once I have my Corvette and now I've unlocked Goodwood, not sure I'll be doing much else haha.

The Circuit Experiences are a great way to make money. I don't remember if they are also locked behind the stupid cafe menu system.
Go to whatever circuits you have unlocked and see if Circuit Experience is available. Even just all bronze on one will see you in a ZR1.
Cool, so it really can be as simple as just doing lots of races, even the same races, to earn the money until you get the car you're aiming for? Go to whatever circuits you have unlocked and see if Circuit Experience is available. Even just all bronze on one will see you in a ZR1.
I always swore I wouldn't be a guy who paid real money for things, but I've seen it's £1.99 for 100k credits.....gotta say the lazy man in me is tempted LOL

There's the nuisance of smashing through the crap cafe menus (did I mention they're crap?) to unlock everything, which is frankly a crapload of crap to put up with, but once you've endured that enormous mound of crap, there's a good game in there I always swore I wouldn't be a guy who paid real money for things, but I've seen it's £1.99 for 100k credits.....gotta say the lazy man in me is tempted LOL
And then, you will be in to the grind
You will be racing the Le Mans 30 minute race again, and again, and again. And then occasionally the Spa 1 hour race. Over and over and over. Why? Because they're the only remotely worthwhile races in terms of credits per hour (there's one other I forget... at Tokyo maybe?)
Cherish those circuit experiences being available, and the mission races, some of those pay appropriately, but are one time payouts
You can sell cars now too (but only unlocked once you've completed those crap cafe menus, defeating the point really)
The game throws cars and money at you initially, it's only once you realise how many of the cars you want are 5,000,000 - 20,000,000 credits, and how many of them there are, that you weigh up whether you want to do that enjoyable race that takes 15 minutes and earns you 12,000 credits, or accept that you're doing another 30 minute Le Mans race for 825,000 credits or whatever it is because you've got no other way of earning any decent money

There's also the Sardegna race, but Le Mans is the most easily guaranteed max payout for 30 minutes effort
