I thought it was steeply priced when first bought, but it's one of the few games I'd consider a replay (once I'm done with current character) as a different house.

Just my 2p smile
That was my original plan - play the good Gryffindoor and then the evil Slytherin on a 2nd replay but tbh I find the sarcastic dhead dialogue choices a lot funnier so seems like I’m doing a magical pistonheads npe commenter play through currently.

the authors own words and views didn't really help from that pov. My partner and I were fans of the series, read all the books, watched all the movies up to the first fantastic beasts one but can't support the series anymore due to JKR.
Fair enough, that’s your choice and the question of whether we can/should separate the art from the artist has been around forever.

Personally, I don’t think there is such a thing as ethical consumption in a capitalist society and you’ll always be funding and indirectly “supporting” some sort of villain. People shouldn’t feel bad for enjoying Harry Potter content, Rick and Morty, Kanye music etc even if those that created that content are aholes. I don’t think that’s what you’re arguing, just saying it may be worth reconsidering your position on boycotting things you would otherwise enjoy.

I agree that there's no ethical consumption under capitalism, we just do the best we can. I can't avoid everything I dislike but not buying entertainment stuff from stty/abusive people is an easy win. I stopped playing Ubi and Actizzard games for the same reason. There's plenty of other stuff around to keep me occupied.

I baulked a little at paying near as dammit £80 for it initially - I've perhaps been a bit spoiled with a steady run of games for effectively peanuts courtesy of Game Pass. But between me and the OH we've logged a combined 142hrs on it so far - with plenty of content left to play for both of us, so that's all of £1.78 per hour of entertainment and that's only going to drop further.

I don't think there's that many differences when playing through as a different house is there? I feel like the good vs. evil options almost always end up the same way anyway.

From my reading there is no difference between any houses except 1 mission but it doesn't affect anything and the dialogue options don't either

bks, a "proper" RPG was the 2nd best selling game last year.
FromSoft stuff doesn't count. Could probably release a Candy Crush clone and get 10's across the board. wink

I caved and bought it. I'm about three hours in. Combat is cool, story is a bit meh (so far) visuals are great on my 3060ti, some voice acting sounds like it was done by somebody stuck down a well with no context given to them beforehand but other than that.. I'm.. having fun?

I had initial traversal stuttering issues and at night the misty courtyard dropped to 45fps so I only played it a bit, but now it seems that's magically fixed itself lol. I bet it's Denuvo or something interfering.

Either way, game looks great and now doesn't run bad either. Locked it to 75fps to keep my GPU quiet.

RTSS benchmark during a portion of the areas previously mentioned where there were lots of stutters moving from in to out etc:

Average framerate : 117.7 FPS
Minimum framerate : 54.9 FPS
Maximum framerate : 175.5 FPS
1% low framerate : 54.9 FPS

Also I've locked it to 75fps to keep the GPU quiet but at the same time keep render/input latency lower than at 60 locked too. This is all nice and well now.

Also pt2, been lolling around levitating cats lol:

Most of the interior is really stunning have to say, spend a lot of time just looking at the details and visuals:

I do like the way you can easily re-skin your gear as a lot of the gear looks total gash!

One of the best features of the game that.

How do you do it? I'm sure I spotted the option once but couldn't find it last night when I looked

It's a little clunky as you can't do it within each outfit slot's window but in the main character / inventory window where you can see all slots, if you hover / select the specific slot (scarf / cloak/headwear etc) there's a message at the bottom of the window (press x to modify or similar)

Definitely! It's a small thing but it always hacks me off in games when you equip the "best" gear you've got in stat terms but end up looking like a demented fraggle who got dressed in the dark as a result. Given the particularly..erm.. eccentric appearance of much of the gear in HL the results if you don't re-skin can be quite something. My OH isn't bothered so she doesn't use the re-skin feature and her character, well, I'm sure if you showed it to small children they would probably burst into tears.

How big is the PS5 save file? I’ve got acres of space on my Series X but prefer playing the PS5!

I didn't realise until a few hours in. I was walking around looking like 70s Elton John until that point.

I look like a magical nonce. Although during serious cut scenes it doesn't half make me laugh when I walk into shot.

How do you do that? Haven’t figured it yet and currently resemble a cross between Jethro Tull and La la from teletubbies.

I'm hovering over 'Handwear', you can see 'Change Appearance' at the bottom of the window.
