GT5 Time Trial

Darkdice, I never had time to come back at you on the Eiger/ Nissan 350 GT combo, respect for taking another two hundredths off my time. That must have been right on the limit with those tyres!.
Capo, very nice "real world" wheels, don't forget to run it in gently!
Everyone, the key to this weeks combo lies in turn 4/5 ('100R', the Japanese class it as 2 corners) before the hairpin left of turn 6.
Get a good exit out of turn 1, flat through the right kink of 2, then hit the kerb of the left (turn 3, Coca Cola) at about 80 ish in 2nd gear.
Now stay in 2nd gear and rev the nuts off it into the start of the long right hander 4/5 (100R), stay as close to apex as the grip will allow, staying in 2nd all the way through 5 towards the hairpin left of turn 6. The further you can keep to the right of the track prior to the hairpin the better as you'll carry more speed though it (apex speed in 2nd gear of about 55mph)
Get the power down out of the hairpin minimising the wheelspin, shift up to 3rd at about 108mph.
Keep a tight line through 8 and 9 (300R) and stay in 3rd (again reving the bejesus out of it) towards the Dunlop chicane.
Through the chicane I keep it in 2nd as you get too much wheelspin in 1st.
The final turns (13th, Netz & Panasonic) are all taken in 2nd you'll just have to find the right apex speeds for each turn (about 60mph for 13th, 50ish for Netz and 55ish for Panasonic). If you've got the line right its difficult to make up anytime in these.
You can definately make the most time up through turn 4/5 (100R), also it will rev loads past the redline, shift up on 2nd is about 108mph, and 3rd is about 151mph.
Hope this helps, best of luck to you all

Can we have a 4wd car next time?
Gives me some hope of keeping up.

I take this section in 3rd

Am in 4th before dunlop

Pretty much, the idea with the championship thread was to keep the format the same but make it more interesting by adding points and a table. There seems to be stronger and stronger rumours pointing to the full GT5 game being released in March 09, so the 12 week championship should take us up to that quite nicely.
Lets hope so... cant wait for private rooms, get some good racing with you guys.
Scooby if that comes off, we should run a racing league championship like i mentioned for TOCA.
There was 10 of us (max in room at time) and each week one of the guys would pick car/track combo and hence ran for ten weeks.
Now that would be cool on GT5

weird thing last night, i went quicker in the GT around Fuji, by doing one thing different. the in car view is what i normally use, this time i stuck with my old favourite, the nose with with rev gauge right there. instantly quicker. and with more to come.
for some strange reason, i could get the power down easier, turn easier, brake easier.

stew - have to be honest i noticed the same thing - before i set projector up i was using a smallish tv so used the nose view - when using the big screen went to incar and then tried the old fav and was quciker - odd
Also the game feels faster too from that view... especially with F1 car - and that's the only car now i go back to cockpit

it is really weird. i do love the inside view, gives me more 'feel' of being in the car, but if it's gonna be slower, sod that. i'm going try out a few of the old time trials we had with the nose view and see if i do any better. Also the game feels faster too from that view... especially with F1 car - and that's the only car now i go back to cockpit
i had an idea about something though, the incar view, we see the steering wheel turn similar amounts for different corners. which i think might give the feeling of understeer so need to reduce speed?
