I'm looking for a way of setting up my G25 wheel in its new home of TV and sofa in the flat, from its old home of being mounted to the computer desk where the PS3, Mac, screen and Xbox used to live. I've seen the Wheel Stand Pro, but I really don't fancy spending the same amount on some metal bars as I did on the wheel itself - http://www.wheelstandpro.com/order.html

A table would be ok, but the place isn't that big so something collapsable like that wheel stand would be ideal. Any ideas for something stable, collapsable the right height for sitting on the sofa and preferably a lot less than £99 ?

Down to your local mobility type shop, small adjustable folding 'table' as used to serve meals on, great base and doubles for TV dinners smile

I keep looking at these
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Xbox360-Racing-Seat-Driving-...
but I can't figure out how to explain to the wife why the accessory for the accessory for a game should cost as much as that frown

Until then I am using a wooden stand but really isn't good enough.

i wanted something cheap (as not used too often) and easy to hide so ended up with this foldaway table [i paid a tenner for 2 of them from ebay i think]

It does the job really well for what it is.. if i had plenty storage room/would be well used then this wouldnt have been my choice!.. but for easy storage/occasional use its been worth the small outlay.. looks sh*te but does the job

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Portable-Travelling-Adjust...

edit - remembered mine from ebay was called a tablemate 2. looks the same as that one though.

Its Built by us but can be bought :-) The alloy section is made by one of my sponsors, so we made a couple up as demos and have a few kits made up if anyone wants one. we can supply any of the cobra seats with it or without the seat. If you really want Willans have done some 4 point harnesses that mount to the frame..

Im working on options to make the seat and pedals quick adjust, as well as multi screen, and a mount for a bigger screen, we've only gone up to 24" at the moment ( pic is a 21) but with 36" being so cheap now but weight a fair bit more.

we've also done rear speaker stands for one chap and I want a seat rumbler.

I also use it with my Xbox, I've made a converter cable to use the g25 pedals with the xbox wheel ( i do have amount for the xbox pedals but they are crap so i use the g25 ones) The xbox wheel is a bit of a pain to mount, You can mount it directly with the normal bracket, but we're working on a replacement bottom piece, but you do have to unscrew the bottom of the wheel which invalidates the warranty to do that. although once you've done that you may as well upgrade the internal bearing.

Mind you every time i use the xbox wheel I keep thinking we should take the internals out and mount them in our own wheel as its just not sturdy enough.

We're also slowley working on a GRP single seater type cockpit version.

I have a wheel stand pro, and I must say, it's absolutely fantastic for sofa use. I can't think of anything else that would be possible to use in a normal house. It folds away nicely so that the OH doesn't complain, and it works with any kind of chair/sofa. I know it's a lot, but unfortunately it's the only thing of it's type on the market. Worth almost every penny I'd say.

I didn't really want to fork out for a wheel stand pro either but, in the end, nothing else even came close.

Bite the bullet and get one, you won't regret it smile

I just made one of these. Sheet of plywood, squirt of black paint, the speed holes weren't cheap tho (-:
cost me about 20 quid to make in total.

I'll draw up a quick plan if anyone wants one. It's not adjustable, but hey I know how big I am.
