I downloaded this last night after reading this thread. This game is great fun.

I'm going down the SPG route. mainly as Im a coward and like to snipe people from across the map while hiding in some bushes.

Just joined up today.

Having great trouble telling one tank from another, especially with those tiny pictures frown

Did manage to get a kill eventually smile

Just got taken down to 20% health by some bugger on my own side frown so the enemy could finish the job....

Think I'll be playing this a lot!

Try not to die, try to kill something (anything) on the other side even if it means nicking a kill off a team mate hope your team wins then you get more experience otherwise just keep grinding. Gold you get once every 24hrs, I wouldnt buy any of the premium tanks cos they are all st, use the gold to train the crew on your next tank. And there seems to be a bit of an imbalance in that in the lower tiers the russian tanks are a bit more powerful

So that's 2 nights' sleep lost now to "Damn! Grrrrr. I'll do better next go!"

It's got a lot of one-more-go-itis wink

So i've focussed on the USSR tanks and i'm in a BT-2 light tank saving for a BT-7. Also been playing with the SU-18 artillery where i beat my previous personal best of one kill by nailing 8 of the enemy in 8 shots!!!! eek

Am i missing anything by not developing the German and USA tanks? Is there a theme to each country like one has more armour, one is faster etc.?

Great game though...can't believe this is free to play at the moment, its so good it really doesn't seem like a beta!

Not really, there's good and bad tanks in all the trees but each tank has it's own good and bad points but then some of these can be overcome with the upgrades. I thought the PzIV with the long turret was an awesome tank, great for sitting back and sniping and quite often go back to it for a few rounds on the other side I wanted to get the Leopard just to try out some fast scouting/harass and have never really got on with it.

One of the best ways to get a feel for the tanks before you spend your credits or even grind the xp for them is have a read on the forums there's plenty of good info on there and, if you take the general opinion of each tank, it's generally spot on.

Decided I'm really enjoying this.

Exactly 50/50 victory ratio when I logged on last night, so I'm obviously not that good (yet wink ).

Anyone on here in/using Clans? Could we form one? Might be nice to have a bit more teamwork....

Got back in to this, and as i had left it for a while since signing up ages ago, i had like 18,000 gold, shame the special tanks were only 1,750 at the most and not very good.

Will be on this weekend, tis very good.

This is gonna chafe a bit when the beta ends.... ;-)

Just started playing this on Saturday, Up to the German Tier 3 already and well and truly addicted!
Maybe we should think about setting up a PH Clan?

(Did anyone else chuckle at the first American Tank you got? Hard to believe at any point that they thought that thing was a good idea! It's like a shoe box with a turret!)

The T1 wasn't a production tank though. It was a series of testbed prototypes. It never fought in any war and dates from the late 1920's. The Leichttraktor was also a testbed tank. Only the Russian MS1 was actually a production tank and was used in battle against the Japanese in Manchuria and very briefly on the eastern front when Germany invaded.

I am also addicted to WoT!!! Usually i'm not that keen on online games but this is hopelessly addictive. Compared to other multiplayer online games there seems to be relatively few griefers (only one deliberate 'friendly fire' incident so far....i think he was just confused about the objectives of the game laugh ) and hardly any idiot teenagers with their l33tspeak.

After progresing to tier 3 on the USSR tech tree and then changing my mind, i've been having huge fun with fast scouting in the German Luchs and just unlocked the Leopard ...sadly can't afford to buy it yet though!! cry

I also like to alternate between the scouting and sitting at the back of the map sniping with a a tank destroyer....

So when beta ends this is going to be a free game where you pay to go 'premium' , right?

How do we get this PH tank battalion up and running?

I've taken that path too. I just cashed in a load of gold to get enough credits wink Be warned - the Leopard is a lot slower with the standard engine than the Luchs with the upgrades, so you'll be looking to research and buy engines too!

OK, I have just found out about this game. It is FANTASTIC! I have spent hundreds of pounds of 'top-rated AAA' games, and 9 times out of 10 have felt very undewhelmed. But this game is fun in its purest form - and it's free!
Even my step-son, who usually plays the COD's on his X Box has downloaded it after playing it on my PC.

Is there anyone who still plays this on here?

Can't stop playing in odd moments. Spotting system can be pants, but there's nothing else quite like this. Looking forward to the full release whwn I shall probably buy the best package, at least to start with, and see how I feel when that runs out.
