This is footage I captured at Spa in July:

http://youtu.be/AGHNGVrwx6g

I used a Gopro Hero 2 attached to the front bumper using an adhesive mount for the external video. The internal video was captured with a Gopro Hero 3 Black attached to the windscreen using the sucker mount.

Both cameras were set to a resolution of 1920x1080. I edited the footage using Cyberlink Powerdirector v10 to create the picture-in-picture effect. However, as this means the video is re-rendered by the software when the final output is produced, I've noticed that there is a considerable loss of quality. I'm not sure if this is down to the hardware used, or whether Powerdirector just is not that good when it comes to re-rendering raw footage.

A little promo video for a classic car event, that I did with my DriftHD Ghost-s and a couple suction cups/beam. Some of the footage is made with an older DriftHD170.

I've just uploaded a video onto youtube that a friend and I made a few days ago. I haven't been able to add any sound yet but apart for a couple of continuity mistakes I am quite happy with it as a first attempt.

I bought 3 cheap action cameras on ebay so I wouldn't be worried if any of them fell off, and then went and had some fun!

Nice. What did you use to mount the cameras to the car?

I used these sort of cameras (they are also for sale badged as Polaroid or Tamron etc but they are the same camera with the same instruction booklet).

For the mounts, I bought a couple of these.

As I wrote, nothing was very expensive - so if one falls off it's not going to be a costly accident. However the whole set up was really rigid and even the camera mounted onto the front number plate took some effort to get off again!

A friend told me ages ago that youtube broadcasts in HD but only at 720 so it doesn't matter how much better quality the film was originally recorded at.
I am sure someone will be along soon to confirm this or tell me I'm wrong though.

Youtube does support 4K and 'original' which is higher quality in the case of the former and has the potential to be high in the case of the latter. I've uploaded 1080p videos before and they have 1080p and original quality options. 1080p videos go through some form of compression to be Youtube 1080p I believe, although I'm basing that on experience rather than something I've read.
