Oli.
Don't be depressed, be inspired!

This is probably the friendliest place to ask how things are done and to find ideas you can try yourself. It's how I'm learning.

(but yeah, I know where you're coming from!)
Wot e sed smile

Cracking forum this one that is full of friendly and helpful people.

I always love this thread. My top 5 (for now, I'm bound to change my mind) are:

My first time out photographing a rally and this shot just reminded me of the classic days of the RAC.

Wyedean Rally 2012 - Stage 3 Speech House - 24 by dogsey, on Flickr

I waited a long time for my second boar encounter but it was worth it to grab this shot.

Baby Boar 02 by dogsey, on Flickr

My first ever adders, it was a thrill to get as close as this to a wild venomous snake.

Adder 07 by dogsey, on Flickr

Jays are difficult to get close to as they are very shy and it took a lot of patience to get this one.

Jay 01 by dogsey, on Flickr

Not my usual type of wildlife as it was in a zoo but having this Clouded Leopard come eye to eye with me was amazing.

Very high standard on here so far, which I can't compete with, but I do like to join in. Believe it or not I do photograph other things apart from birds, but having said that, my favourite 5 this year are all bird shots:

GT in flight

GT and Nuthatch (Flickr explored)

Crane with a feather

Always a fun thread.
I remember a lot of the shots posted and thinking how special they were back when first posted.
My Top 5 has a bit of a theme, but I do go out during daylight sometimes! hehe

Outstanding work everyone, really top class smile

I've had the quietest year with the camera for a long time while I've been moving my world up to Scotland, hope to get out with the camera more in the New Year.

As usual I've had my time machine out again this year, the 85mm 1.2 can shoot all the way back to 1952 LOL smile

Some brilliant shots here.

It's not just the photos, but the 'eye' to spot the image is there to be captured.

Pretty sure I don't have anything to compete....

Rethought mine a bit. Top 5 isn't enough!

Maybe it should be 12, going along with this Ansel Adams quote "Twelve significant photographs in any one year is a good crop."
Was originally going to be 'Top 3' hehe

Just thought of it like competition rules - tough to narrow it down to just 5 but going through your work and making a tough decision not to include one you like is part of the fun / annoyance hehe

Oli.
It's worth bearing in mind that everyone started somewhere - no one takes amazing photos from the word 'go'.

There are skills to be learned, not just technical things but also 'training your eye' to spot a good angle or composition. So everyone is learning and trying to produce better images.

That is what is great about this forum, lots of knowledgeable (& talented) people who don't mind answering questions or providing constructive criticism on other people's work.

Cheers smile

Well it worked. I changed mine about 5 times before pressing submit, then once after!

Still not sure....

I'm the same, took me 30 mins to decide - really wished it was 'top 6' hehe

I attempted this last year and found it so hard but it was great to think about it.

The examples on the topic are amazing, alot of shots that I have seen before on here and love seeing again. Anyway, in no particular order.

All these were picked as a gut feeling. I could look over my shots more and choose a different five but these came to mind first so it must be the right choice.

I may have picked a couple of different ones to these, but didn't want to break forum rules by posting a couple of nude shots.

Looking at what others have posted, I think I need to get out more.
