Thanks Both good suggestions - on a 'proper' photography trip I probably would have tried a longer exposure but I was already trying the patience of Mrs DD as you might imagine...
Ah yes, fully understood.Brave man to try! I rarely carry a camera (other than phone) when accompanied. And I VERY rarely use the phone to take photos.

Looks great to me Dibbly.
I'm just looking at some Canaletto in the Queen's gallery and he's painted in scaffolding in the background. Made me chuckle thinking of the criticism of your other shot in the churchyard. Keep up the good work.
I see the point you are making, but the fact that Canaletto included scaffolding in a painting doesn't mean that it automatically becomes a good thing in every landscape.I'm just looking at some Canaletto in the Queen's gallery and he's painted in scaffolding in the background. It's a fact that the human eye tends to be drawn to objects that are bright or don't appear to belong in a scene, and if those objects distract from the subject matter then it's better if they are not in the picture. I took the subjects in Dibby's churchyard scene to be the church, the churchyard and the hill and sky beyond.
That said that's just my opinion (although it is one I have heard from a good many people who make their living from photography) and if others don't share that opinion then I totally accept that.

I like that but can't help my eye being drawn to the red shirts.
Thanks again for the feedback - will have another look but they weren't troubling me when I first edited it so will probably leave it alone singlecoil said:

I wasn't Making a point, just an observation and I certainly don't remember suggesting scaffolding was a good thing in every landscape. Bah you guys want man made? I'll give you man made...
From a hero meetup we organised yesterday at New Brighton. Crazy, these things were a small gathering of local landscape togs, we had over 80 people there on a cold foggy winter morning!

Nice panning result Nick, as well as your usual excellent people pics.
The Exif data looks a bit consistent as well as the date of Sept 2011 and an old body type.
Something to do with the processing workflow?
Thanks dude, yeah they are put into an existing template so that has messed up the exif. Pans were at 1/100 shot mostly with the 85mm 1.2 L and some with the 100-400 L The Exif data looks a bit consistent as well as the date of Sept 2011 and an old body type.
