Slightly frustrated by that second one - I quite like the composition, but can't get it to 'pop'.
"Pop" in terms of colours perhaps?

Have you tried Levels and Curves?

Something that allows you to take the narrow bands of greens and drak blues in the distance and "spread" them into a wider colour range and luminosuty adjustments, etc., to go with that.

Quite a challenge but may not be impossible - especially starting from a RAW file if that's what you have.

It's an almost I think. From further right pointing more left might have worked better isolating the island more
That’s pretty good description, basically when I first saw the shot the background was completely white from most rising from the frozen lake, but I didn’t have my camera on me.
, I was planing on a wider shot.
When I went back the mist had gone , along with the ‘moment’

Was watching a video on youtube last night and found Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and plane graveyard. there's a few quid there

Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (KDMA/DMA) Overview - #32 by John Creasey, on Flickrn

Can be viewed in descent quality on bing
https://www.bing.com/maps?&ty=18&q=Davis%2...
Would love to have a wander around there but bet it's rather restricted.

Looking on the satellite view there's a ridiculous amount
45x C5A in various places
At least that many chopped-up B52s
A dozen or so B1s
A hell of a lot of F15s and F4s...and a few random F14s
Likewise various old airliners / military conversions
...plus various C130s, Hawkeyes, and smaller stuff (F16s, F5s and older...)

You have to wonder why they're there - wouldn't it make sense to recyle them?!?

My mum who passed away this year aged 90.

Dark satanic Lancashire mills and chimneys in 1932 to light and airy modern Kent care home in 2017. Looking at that photo I know which she preferred. A snapshot in time.

She kept all her photos over the years, now we have gone digital wonder if I will be able to do the same?

There is something about holding a picture in your hand.

Finally got round to sorting out a batch of photos from last year. These are the best of a pretty average bunch...

Not been on this thread for a long time and it has been nice to catch up.
Rob's 'lazy' photos continue to astound.
Satan's Worm's photos from China are fantastic; recognise one or two of the locations from my visit years ago.
Lloyd's helicopter and Shard is very dramatic.
Noell's Burnthwaite makes me want to visit it right now.
The shots of Edinburgh in the snow are lovely too and very serenely calm.
Keep up the good work one and all. thumbup

A few from me taken yesterday in Leeds city centre. I'm determined to get the camera out more often in 2018. smile
