Pity the bridges got in the shot though.

By the way - for all of you Fuji fans and in case you had not heard - there seems to be a very recent tie up between Fuji and Capture One software and you can obtain a free copy of Capture One Express for Fuji to investigate.
The Fuji version is limited to Fuji and Phase RAW file conversion and Express is a reduced subset of tools mostly aimed at people who don't intend to do a lot of RAW processing or want to get a top rate RAW conversion and then move it as a jpg or tiff or w.h.y to another application.
There is a fully featured "Pro for Fuji" version which is also limited to the file types previously mentioned (small price premium) and then a Full Pro version that supports files from all manufacturers. (Obviously that is a paid for option.)
I just thought that might be of interest - something to have a look at during the approaching long winter evenings perhaps.

The pro version is quite expensive though? At least it supports the gfx
Depends on what one wants to do and how one wants to do it.If you take a subscription it may not look great if you still feel a need to work with Photoshop and have to subscribe to Adobe as well.
However you can still "buy" C1 and get discounted updates at Version changes. If you change with every new Version pricing is roughly the same as for an annual subscription (depending on Version release timing). But if you don't need the new version for anything new that it offers you can simply stick with the previous version and the reduced price upgrade will still apply if you update at the next new version.
Or at least it has so far. And there offers around from time to time. Plus they offer 2 "seats" for the Sony (and Fuji afaik) Pro versions and 3 for the Full Pro included in the price. And free personal Technical Support on a Case basis should you require it for any reason.
As you do so much with multiple images and stitching I'm not sure how much Capture One would really offer you for the money Rob.
But I rarely do anything like that. I have Affinity Photo rather than Photoshop but I don't feel any affinity with either of those as software tools whereas for me Capture One is a very natural tool. It helped that when I first tried it was a similar concept to my previous favourite RAW converter. My previous favourite had already elbowed the early LightRoom releases out of the way.
I think the point about C1 in the context of mentioning the Fuji version is that for Fuji and the previously released Sony only versions, many people express the opinion that they prefer the RAW conversion interpretation of Capture One to the alternative programs.
I have neither Sony nor Fuji cameras so I have no valid opinion either way. However I think that makes it something worth investigating for Sony and Fuji users even if they decide that the program is not for them.
I don't want this to come across as a form of sales pitch - I have no vested interest at all.
But I strongly believe it is software worth looking at because it just seems easier than most to put up an image that just looks really right straight away yet can still be readily "enhanced" and personalised should one so wish.
Oh I've tried capture one before, really didn't find the results anything special and preferred my Adobe workflow, though if it works for you that's good.
Adobe's fuji raw convertor was pretty ropey early days i think it's improved now?
So for Sony I'd have to buy the Sony specific version then the standard one for my Canon files? Yeah nah..

The full Pro version works for all supported manufacturers - basically all of them an most of the cameras that offer RAW files. They do have some constraints about support for other Medium Format cameras being manufacturers themselves. I suspect that might be a 2 way concern in terms of the need to open up on the sharing of key technical information which probably would not appeal to the top end competitors.
That said the Fuji medium format offering is supported. Which is interesting.
The Sony and Fuji Pro versions are full featured but the RAW processing is limited to their respective RAW files plus the files from Phase One Backs. However they are a reduced price compared to the full Pro system.
You probably would not find a general benefit compared to your Adobe workflow because for one thing Phase do not set out to be any sort of Photoshop. They don't seek to compete with that market area but rather work with it where necessary.

I have the full version of Capture 1 but I only ever use it for tethering, and not often then. I think it has the worst designed UI of any software that has ever existed since the dawn of computing.
That's interesting. It's highly customisable and does not require one to perform different types of RAW file processing functions in different "Modes" as some other applications do.
Personally speaking I find it very intuitive, mostly, whereas I have never got my head around Photoshop and similar applications where they often seem to want people to jump through hoops to do the simplest things.
I would be interested to know what you particularly dislike about it but perhaps this thread is not the place to do that.
My interest is not so much related to Capture One here. Rather it is about software UIs in general and how the designs can be so divisive of opinion for what are somewhat mundane activities (as a UI rather than the functions the tools and features of the UI perform.)

Lovely shot. I couldn't get the chaps in the boiler suits to stay still long enough!Between the scenery, wildlife and night photography I'm not sure which way to turn at the moment. Anyway, this is the first night shot of the house. Starry Starry Night by Squiffy1308, on Flickr
