My 17 year old daughter's 2 snaps from someone who just went down the beach and doesn't give a st about making a nice shot.

Taken on one of those cameras that goes from 1mm to 1000mm or something.

Both proud and hate her in equal measures.....

There's me and my fiddly lens cap and can't see the screen and my ice cream is melting and ......

Wow - so that light took roughly 200,000 years to hit your sensor having covered 1,200,000,000,000,000 miles... mind blowing wobble

Yeah, hopefully it lasts until after dark tonight for another go smile

Was a really bright one at times last night, easily visible to the naked eye. If I had thought it was going to be that good I would have gone out earlier and driven the hour to the south coast instead of 5 minutes to the hills above town here.

I've visited the APOTY Exhibition at Liverpool's World Museum twice (It finished today) but I believe it's moving down to https://www.rmg.co.uk/whats-on/astronomy-photograp... and that image is every bit as good as the winning entries in that!

Cheers mate! Appreciate the compliment but my hot is pretty mundane for current astro, the comp isnt the best and it has some technical issues as it was just grabbed whilst teaching some specific techniques.

Also a note on competitions, theres usually a lo of very good images entered which you often dont see, and the final results/winners are often what the judges like, which mos times wouldn't line up with your own choices. I generally dont bother with competitions any more.

That's a very good point. There were many in the exhibition that left me cold - but a sufficient number that left me gibbering in wonder! smile

Talking about competitions, I was in a Garden Centre at the weekend (oh the joys of middle-age) and the local gardening Club had tables of displays from their recent competition. Flawless radish, unfeasibly large marrows, that sort of thing. They even had a photo section - not just of veg - and the quality was err... variable shall we say. So I think I know where to enter my shots from now on! spinwhistle

Shot this in Paris at the weekend at the Musée d'Orsay cafe shop. Through the 'clock window' looking at Sacre Coeur on a hill top across the other side of city with the telephoto compressing the distances in between. Also liked the people and staff in the foreground adding some context and atmosphere.

That needs more appreciation. Fantastic work.
