What's the source? The inner cynic in me doubts that the shadows, lighting and leaves on the trees would be so consistent over two photos taken months apart. frown

Also the car parked in the background (if that is meant to be a 4 year gap) and the leaves on the trees not looking especially wintery in the second photo if that is meant to be Christmas.

Could it be that the less populated image is Officers only or perhaps some other sub-group of the whole unit?

This brought it home about the losses in the first world war.

Each yellow dot is a death in one small area of Tyneside.

Thanks for that. We spend Easter in very deepest Suffolk. Well away from anything. However, enter any church, however small, and there's a WWI memorial with a dozen or more names. Often, the same surname is replicated.

In sure many others on here have experienced this too. We really did lose a generation.

Was reading about this image on Twitter - it seems likely the second image is a doctored version of the first BUT the numbers show are correct. Don't know where the below came from but it seems plausible... frown

I was at the National Memorial Arboretum yesterday with my lad...glad I was there, and glad I took him, but some of it was really moving...never felt more sober in my entire life.

You try and think about it - the numbers, the statistics, the reality of their daily life...and it just doesn't compute. Trying to explain some of it to a 6 year old... frown

"This is a full moon descending on Angel Falls, on the south side of Yosemite, just west of Sentinel Rock. For a few days each year, it appears as though the the moon is draining through the waterfall."

My first thought was that the person must be a giant!

Photoshop aside, it's a lovely photo. It's a shame the person doesn't fit. I get the idea but the scale is way off, although I also appreciate it's not a C&C biggrin
