Thought you were going to smack that branch on your flight to Blunsdon station a couple of minutes in to the vid there!
biggrin So did I, the auto detect stopped it nicely though, at that point was having to deal with the missus excitedly shouting at me about the cute cows

Very nice. It's always been bone dry when I pass that. Must get timing better!

Was out a walk with the dog and passing over a bridge with a small stream below I spotted a snake in the water with something in its mouth, got the drone out quick to try and film it and all went pretty well i thought, until i got home and discovered it hadn't actually been recording!

User error i'm sure, but it did seem to be recording at the time, it was the first time I have used it in ages though!

My first ever drone arrived on Friday - Mavic 2 Pro which is a ridiculous bit of kit for a first drone but will ultimately be needing the camera for some projects so may as well go full beans from the off.

First couple of flights at the weekend which I've just edited for your amusement / creative criticism / etc.

Nice first attempt.

Need to practice a few things:
adjusting the iso/shutter speed as some areas were quite dark...unless that was your desire smile
try and be a little smoother on changing the pitch of the gimble and the moving yaw of the drone. it wont take long but it will avoid those jerky movements that spoil the flow of the video smile

If you are planning on doing some "Projects" ensure that you have justified whether you require a PfCO as you dont want to fall foul of the CAA...there are a lot more reported cases of the police confiscating drones being used against their permissions.

Thanks Jonty.

Yeah - camera settings are next on the list of things to master. Was using the D-Log settings thinking I could tweak in edit - which I could - but not to the extent needed.

I've been looking at the PfCO requirements. It's something I'd like and most probably need to do at some stage.

When the new EASA regs come in in November you don’t need to worry about having a permission if you’re flying away from built up areas.

EASA now pushed back to the end of the year. As a PfCo holder I fully expect them to be pushed back further to March 2021.

The Drone Assist app is an essential tool as well. Well worth it.

Applied some of the observations and suggestions and had a crack at blending Drone footage into a little 'film' - purely as a means to learn. Quite pleased with the results though still some areas to improve on.

Have also joined a few Facebook drone groups. My word they're an 'interesting' bunch aren't they?

After buying my first drone in March as the country locked down, I managed for first proper session on Friday morning.

It's a bit scary flying over water and also getting to the point where I struggled to find the drone in the sky after taking my eye off it (one of the issues with a Mavic Mini - it's a bit dinky...)

Still, photos were decent for a first attempt. Just got to get braver with altitude now

Very nice.

Over the past 5 years, at least 50% of my flying has been over water, and I haven't got wet yet! Don't let it bother you.

I was flying FPV a hundred yards from water - still managed to cartwheel across half a field to drown my drone!

On the other hand when I'm flying GPS drones - all dry.

So far... wink

Brought it away on Hols sailing- thought I would give it a go- having last year see a mates MAvic Air st itself on take off and ditch.

Take off #1 from the roof of the boat fine and dandy

All good

Take off #2 I'm sat in the cockpit / seating area. Set the drone to take off in the gap between the two steering wheels. Manual take off (as before) fly it out astern at perhaps 6 ft off the water, try to climb, not much happening. Try to steer and it's just veering.
I head to the rocks for a controlled crash. ish. (The controlled bit)

Paddled across hoping I haven't binned it in a rock pool, and seems other than a broken blade - OK

A google suggests VPS May have fked it up ? And similarly with his that was lost in 100m water ??? The water surface confuses it at that height ??

The VPS can get a bit confused when flying near water, best to turn it off if flying close to it.

Do any of you live in Surrey/Berkshire?

The reason is we’re applying for planning to extend our house and would really like some aerial before and after photos. It’s a semi rural site.

PM if you’d be happy to help please smile
