Lack of answers on here, so are there any good yt videos or forums online for advice on buying a simple to use drone?
What's your budget? Most drones from the market leader (DJI) are very easy to fly. They have obstacle avoidance, return to home' and if you just let go of everything they hover by themselves. I've flown for 5 years and have never crashed.

Thanks, had a phantom iii for a while but didnt gel as i didnt have the time at that point to master it, a few years has gone by now and i see the ‘lilly’ tech of ‘follow me’ is now common place so thatd be cool as i had to cancel the lillynoreder.

This forum is pretty good for Drone stuff. You might even find a lightly used drone on there for sale.https://greyarro.ws/

Best to go with a DJI Mavic Mini 2, pretty good quality, and being sub 250g means you can fly pretty much anywhere without doing any qualifications.
You can actually fly in more places than I can and I have a PfCO.
The new 2021 regs mean you still have to have a flyer and operator licences for sub 250g drones. Plus it doesn't have any follow modes. You can actually fly in more places than I can and I have a PfCO.

Using the follow mode on yourself isn't strictly legal if you don't keep the drone in sight and I've found that I do a better job manually than using the follow mode on other subjects.

True, but those licenses cost around £9 and 10 minutes of your time. With a Mavic Mini, you can take off from almost anywhere with minimal separation distances.

But given that the poster was looking for a drone with a follow mode the Mini 2 (which I have and think punches well above it's tiny weight) isn't a good suggestion.Uggers said:

Not strictly photography, but my first attempt at 3D mapping with a Mavic Pro:
That's brilliant! Edited by SlimRick on Wednesday 17th February 21:10
This must be how they do the 3d modelling on Google Earth?
How does this work? Do you specify an area and it flys an automatic route? And does it take a while?
