Thought better to ask in here where all the drone folk lurk! I've been contemplating getting in to the drone world. Will be with one of the cheaper DJI ones if I do, likely the Mini SE or Mini 2.
My question is, how are DJI with android devices these days? I fell out of love with them after arguing with their software on a gimbal.
I have a Samsung S21 Ultra 5G. I've tried looking through their forums but getting conflicting information, I know iOS is their bread and butter so not expecting miracles. Also not wanting to buy a second phone/tablet just to use for this!

S21 is fine - I use a samsung phone without any issues

I have a Mavic Mini and use a Fold 4 with the DJI app. I've not had any issues with it apart from the remote seems quite sensitive with which cable it needs to use. I bought a longer micro to usb-c cable and it didn't like it and couldn't connect so I had to buy a couple of cables until I bought a short usb-c extension cable which worked. My question is, how are DJI with android devices these days? On the app side I use Litchi as it gives the Mini waypoint, orbit and other features that aren't available in the default DJI app.

Never tried it on a Samsung but I've got a Mini 2 I use with my Pixel 4a and no real issues. I'm in Aberdeen as well (think we've met a few times in the past at meets etc.), if you want to have a go with mine to check it out before you buy anything I'm happy to meet up.My question is, how are DJI with android devices these days? Awesome, I think the fold & S21 are pretty much on par spec wise so that bodes well! Tbf I've a few cables as android auto is fussy with cables, too. On the app side I use Litchi as it gives the Mini waypoint, orbit and other features that aren't available in the default DJI app.

I may take you up on that! Would be good to have a fiddle about, be intruiged to see video settings/filters etc. Most of the videos I watch online are of wonderfully sunny, colourful places I had a shot of a friends Phantom a good few years back but these ones seem a bit neater.

Yeah one thing I will say about the Mini 2 is the image quality tanks in low light. Apparently the 3 is better in that regard. I'm not really using mine enough to justify an upgrade at the moment. Still deliberating on whether justification is necessary or not tho I had a shot of a friends Phantom a good few years back but these ones seem a bit neater.
Just shoot me a PM if you want

Good to know! It's so easy to apply man maths to these things and suddenly the budget doubles Just shoot me a PM if you want
Will mainly be hobbying and the occasional external property photo. I'll pop you a PM if I can't resist the frivolity!

It's been a while since I've posted in here, but I've been doing a bit more drone flying recently and trying to teach myself film editing. This is my first attempt with a little video of a recent trip to Iceland.
I'm doing the same as you, learning to edit video footage....or at least trying to....being the far side of middle age means things sometimes take longer to learn. Have a few interesting trips coming up, if i can get some decent footage taken and edited, i'll post it up.I'll watch the clip later but i'm sure i'm going to like it
Bit off-topic but has anyone here ever sold their drones to MBP online? I sent mine to them nearly 3 weeks ago and still no sign of any money. Their adverts are all over Facebook but no mention of the long timescale they seem to take. I emailed them but they just said they are still testing the kit.
Works a bit better here >>> http://stevecarter.com/latest/19-4-2023c.jpg

I just entered the drone world, purchasing a DJI mini 3 as a business expense (honest) so I can capture drone footage for clients.
Day 2 of ownership I took it to my kids football training to get some video for the club website.
When I sent up the drone I said to my kid, and nephew, "it's too windy I shouln't be flying this"
I flew it anyway
Immediately after I finished taking the video I flew the drone back to me, and crashed it straight into the building.
It got stuck on the roof. I had to go home, get a long stick, and come back to recover it.
Drones are fun!

Didn't you get a warning in the app? If you do find it being blown off course then drop as low as you can to get back as the wind at ground level is much less than higher up and also try to fly out upwind if you can.Day 2 of ownership I took it to my kids football training to get some video for the club website.
