How much???!!!!

Not enough of an improvement over my a7II to be worth it for me.

If it had been 50/60 megapixel, maybe, but £4,500??

You've got to really need 20fps & 1/32000.

Does it have weather sealing? And actual build quality?

I'm sad the most exciting thing in the list is the my menu feature

Its got "In addition to a magnesium alloy body that assures the camera’s all-around toughness and reliability, largely amplified versatile features enhance operability, supporting severe usage in professional photography."

Whatever the heck that means.

Seriously though, I remember writing a post just over a year ago pointing out all the reasons Sony was not a viable choice for pro photography, like lack of f2.8 zooms, dual slots, battery life etc, and since then Sony appears to have answered every criticism. They really are innvovating at an incredible pace.

On paper this handily beats the Nikon D5, the 5DMk4 and the 1D in one fell swoop and actually looks like a bit of a bargain.

They are still missing some big primes in that mount, sure they will sort that out quickly but the sony glass is expensive. Also no 200-400/4

If you already own a 1dxmk2 and a heap of big lenses (or your agency does) it takes a lot to make people shift. and that includes pro level worldwide support like CPS

EVF, bleuch.

'5-axis image stabilization'? Roll, pitch, yaw - what else?

Don't need 20fps.
It's ugly.
Ah'm oot.

Yaw & Pitch = tilting the sensor left / right, up / down
X & Y = moving the sensor left / right, up /down
Roll = rotating sensor

= 5 axis nerd

I can see this being a great camera for sports photographers - the EVF means no blackout in the viewfinder, as it takes photos.

Can't work out why it needs an ethernet port though?

Nor can I. It doesn't have high enough resolution for tethered applications.

Ethernet for tethered shooting straight to PC or external storage? At full res and 20fps it will be generating a *lot* of data in RAW.

Your comments on this thread are really strange... ?

Anyway, back on topic, it looks like to be a great camera for the sports 'tog, hopefully some of the tech will filter down into the lower tiers... (and no doubt Canikon will look to copy at some point to catch up)

An R version with more Megapixels will no doubt be released at some point, with a lower FPS for people who need MP and not FPS ...

I'll get it when it's released. Conveniently I'm in the US at the end of May smile
Hopefully it will replace my 1Dx and 5D MkIV. Now 1Dx is for action and 5D for travel. And sometimes I miss/need speed of 1Dx when travelling - hopefully that won't be the case anymore.

Cheers Rob, not. We grew out of the brand wars in 2005; it's one of the 'stages of a photographer'.

There's nothing about this camera that interests me, that's all.
