The topic for January is "Symmetry".
"the quality of being made up of exactly similar parts facing each other or around an axis."

I checked the list of previous topics and couldn't see this one.

Rules:

The photos taken must be your own work and taken in the month of the competition.
The competition will run from the first to the last day of the month.
The winner from the previous month decides on the topic for the following month and judges it at the end of the month.
Entries and discussion on this single thread, please.
All entrants acknowledge that they may indeed win and that their adherence to convention ensures everyone else's continued fun.
Photos entered should be no bigger than 750 pixels wide for a landscape photo and 600 pixels high for a portrait photo due to the PH squash factor. Links to larger versions are permissible.

Whilst I understand the thinking behind the rule that submissions must be taken in the same month, I would respectfully suggest that this is killing this competition

Can we please revert to the previous rule set with no restrictions on when the photo was taken?

OTOH, if the purpose of the competition is to encourage people to take pictures especially for the competition then that purpose would be defeated if people were able to go through their back catalogue to find something suitable...

Hmm - I see where you are coming from Nigel... there are pros and cons to both versions but if this version results in no/very few entries then reverting to the old method may be the best course.

I will put up a poll and see what folk think smile

I have to say I do like the current rules. I'm walking around all the time looking for symmetry which is really opening my eyes to the world around me.

OK - on the basis I can't be bothered to get my camera out, some left-field thinking....

Is a palindromic number a form of symmetry? I think so...

It's got symmetry in it though. I'm just a bit disappointed that it's not a symmetrical food still lifeweeping

That was my first thought, but that would have been contrived symmetry instead of discovered symmetry.

Perhaps you would be kind enough to delete that post now.

I've decided to change my entry, seeing as my original photo attracted humorous attention.

My idea didn't quite go to plan - I thought that sticking a GoPro to the downtube of my bike and riding through a puddle would give a nice symetrical V shape of water with the tyre in the middle. At least I got something kind of symetrical...
