http://blog.flickr.net/en/2018/11/01/changing-flic...

It's beginning January 8th 2019.

Meh, I currently have around 1900 photos on my Flickr, mostly airshows and Morris dancing.
I recently paid up for a starter Zenfolio account to act as a showcase for my hobby and also to provide proper Client Galleries for the 1 or 2 weddings I seem to be now doing. I'll just move lots of things over to Zenfolio instead of paying for two subscriptions.

From the official Flickr Facebook page, January 8th gets you a free in upload. February 5th, they start actively culling your photos.

Cue MASSIVE bandwidth leeching on Flickr's network as everyone moves to download all their photos....

You can use the "Request my data" feature under Flickr Account settings and Flickr will bundle up all your photos into a nice archive file for you to download.

They had a 30% offer on last night when I looked on the site.

30% off for first year offer currently on. I've paid. I like flickr and it's good value for money in my eyes. I used to be a Pro subscriber back in the day but when they added more to the free accounts I stopped paying. I've 11,000 photos on there!

I wonder how long they will grandfather Flickr Pro?

I've been a Flickr Pro subscriber for years, even when they dropped it (they let you keep it so long as you didn't change your membership to Free). When they resurrected Flickr Pro I started paying again, even though the only real benefit you get is the statistics. Because I'm a nerd and I like to see my statistics. paperbag

I noticed when SmugMug bought Flickr that SmugMug's pricing was way higher than Flickr Pro, and I was wondering how long it would take them to adjust that.

For the past 4 years I have paid $44.95 for 2 years Flickr Pro. I notice that when I click on "Manage my subscription" it now says "1 year $49.99". That's a bit of a hike! eek

Fortunately I'm not due for renewal until November 2019, so that's something I guess.

I've just gone for the Pro option. At around £27 for the first year I don't think it's a bad deal. I was Pro before the 1TB free membership arrived and I've been expecting this to happen ever since Smugmug took over.

I have several thousand photos on Flickr as I've been a member since 2008 and I don't fancy finding a new home for them at the moment although I may research my options before the first year renewal. I'm also hoping that Smugmug give Flickr a bit of TLC that it's been sadly lacking while it's been free.

I have two Flickr accounts - one free and one Flickr Pro. Both since around 2008, like you. My free account has 1,102 photos on it and I have very few followers or hits on it. I'd not be too fussed with losing 100 pics or so on that, and then not adding more.

My Flickr Pro account only has 380 photos, but 3.9K followers and 15+ million views, and also drives traffic to my blog, so I will almost certainly keep that on even though it costs money.

Not wishing to derail the thread, but out of curiosity I looked at your profile to see if your blog address was listed. I note you say in the comments that you are the owner of the emoticon cache. I'm confused here as I thought that was owned by a guy on here with the username Jon RB but aren't you female? confused

I wasnt aware of this, so thanks for the heads up.

Not really sure what to do, I have 1650 images on Flickr and use it as a way of sharing images and also offsiting my favourite stuff.

I guess 50 a year isnt the end of the world, but yuo know for fact its onyl ever going to head North.

Add the Adobe sub to it as well and togging is heading into an expensive montlhly premium activity.

I don't know if this still works, but one little trick I discovered a while back was to add all of my pics into a new album called "all", and then use flickrdownloadr to download that album.

Edit: I just checked and this still works fine.
