I bet the owner found that to be completely unpalatable.

I wouldn't bet against that. I know they certainly needed a lift.

They're probably feeling a bit poorly - both looking a little grizzly.

The age of that picture shows that they haven't been used for donkeys.

Judging by what I've seen in some motorway service areas, that would only be an MOT advisory in some Eastern European countries. It still has wind in it, doesn't it?

You misunderstand - that's the replacement tyre, newly fitted.

That's the sort of tyre I'd happily advise my wife* to drive on. I see no issues.

Pah, amateurs.

I drove this into my local tyre place... (Boxster, waiting for very bad geometry to be sorted but appointment was 2 weeks away, left it as long as I dared to try and get it done with new tyres.)

Was a bit "interesting" in the wet...

What sort of bad geometry caused that?

Bad geometry usually wears one or other of the shoulders more than the other... excessive wear to the middle of the tread is usually down to gross over-inflation (although for it to be that bad, I'd suspect a combination of over-inflation with a binding brake)?

Looks roundabout induced to me.

Initially, a cut partway through the carcass gives a slightly high spot. That wears, thin spot gets wider, wears and so on. That tyre wasn't far from sudden deflation. Usually some imbalance felt.

It was surprising how bad they were. 6 month old Michelin Pilot Sport 4. Driven with spirit but not excessively so.

Pressures were spot on.

See below for before and after geometry. Turned out one of the adjustment bolts on the rear suspension had snapped in the past and been re-welded and had then snapped so back end was all over the place. New tyres, bolts & it's behaving itself.

No wonder it handled like a pig
Snapped adjuster and the toe all over the place on all four corners would do that
Well held that man!

which thread is this?

Thought it was fantastic moments, not a tyre service tutorial

It's providing a crucial public service, highlighting the risk of driving on worn or failing tyres.

Take this dreadful case for example. Mixed tread patterns - absolutely lethal.

If you were driving with a tyre like that you are a moron and a danger to everyone else on the road.
