I'm looking for a motoring enthusiast into making youtube videos / films who is looking for some interesting stuff to film during 2020.

I'll be racing cars, racing offroad vehicles, doing trackdays, supercar stuff, classic car stuff, road trips and eurotrips all in my own cars. I have a collection of fairly interesting and collectable cars which I also work on so may do some garage 'how-to' stuff and know a bunch of interesting folks who make 'good tv'.

It's mostly for fun, unless the content is interesting enough to turn into a youtube channel, so obviously it's not paid, but you'll get to experience some pretty cool stuff - I have some highlights videos from the last few years I can show to give a bit of an idea of some of the events. I don't really do walking around car shows much, so most of the events / video subjects will involve actual driving smile

I have 4 gopros and a huge array of mounts, but you'd need to have your own additional gear and editing setup. looking for someone keen and reliable.

If anyone here is interested, PM me please... I'm based in London, but most weekends I'm doing something motoring related around the UK.

I don't wish to be rude or anything... but you really should offer some ££ if you want someone to do this... even if its a student etc...

this isn't a commercial operation or the beginning of a new youtube/instagram channel, it's just for fun to record a bit more of the year. I'm not looking for a pro, but a keen amateur who maybe is looking for some interesting content to practice their skills. They'd get to experience access to many car-related activities which they might not have suitable vehicles for themselves. If they meet the insurance criteria they'd be welcome to drive some of my cars as well. if any of the content generated revenue, they would of course be entitled to a share of it from the platforms.

For some people getting an opportunity to lap Spa in an NSX, drive the col-de-turini in an integra type-r, VMAX a Ferrari on the autobahn or racing an offroader might be quite appealing as an experience - they just need to bring a camera with them and document it. I'm not talking about making 'content' with talk-to-camera stuff, just come along and record some of the driving and make an edit.

appreciate it's not for everyone, and certainly not for pros that make videos for a living.

Will you be paying expenses?

I would have thought such an offer would be great for an enthusiastic amateur whos interested in cars and shooting video. I have oftern volenteered for lots of things, with no thought of asking money for it, just to enjoy the experience of it, which for me would be payment enough. I am to old and dont have any video skills to take up such an offer, but I truely hope you find someone who sees the potential for life satisfaction in it and not just a monetry gain.

Don't suppose you're enthusiastic about plumbing are you? Got a few jobs I could do with sorting.

I understand what you think you're asking, but I think there's maybe a disconnect in your understanding of what's involved in doing a decent job of filming and editing, especially editing.

Your best compromise may be seeing if someone already making videos for YouTube etc would be interested in filming what you're doing for their channel, but don't go expecting any kind of sharing of any revenue from it.

It's definitely an interesting offer that I'm sure would appeal to someone on here. But unless all travel, hotel and expenses abroad are covered you're really asking someone to pay for the privilege of following you around. That might rule out most of the younger aspiring youtubers. Might be better to contact one or two of the smaller youtube channels as they might see the opportunity to get some interesting new content for their channel and you get a nicely edited record of your adventures. Once the cars are sold, all we have are the videos to show for it.

That was exactly what I was expecting. In the past I have volunteered to manage and mechanic on race teams (cars and bikes) and really enjoyed the experience. The good news is that a couple of people share your view and have PM'd.

I've made my own clips in the past, so I know the editing takes a lot of time, but for some people its a fun hobby and they want something interesting to make videos about. I'm not asking for any particular level of professionalism or commitment, just thought it might be nice to share the experiences (which I do with my mates already) but with someone in the group keen to make an edit of the events.

Anyways, here are a few pics from the last couple of years, should be some great memories for someone that literally wants to come along for the ride...

But as above, are you paying expenses? You say these guys are along for the ride, but are they having to pay for their own hotel room? Their own flights? Their own food? If they are driving your cars, are you insuring them or are you expecting them to have their own PLI? Do they understand that while you guys are in the bar unwinding, they will be backing up memory cards and charging equipment ready to film the next day?

From what I can see, you are offering essentially an experience day. I can buy one of those for £70. Whereas you are asking for potentially days/weeks of free camera handling and editing, the going rate for which is around £300/day. As far as I see what you need is a GoPro if these are just for memories and not any kind of professional filming.

Fair play if you've found someone who wants to do it. I would take their offer with both hands immediately.

Well, an amateur doesn't warrant £300pd, but he shouldn't be out of pocket either. Paul clearly has a few bucks (unless he gets his cars and petrol free as well), so whilst he argues his case well, he should find some loose change and cover expenses because the videographer will be spending days of his time doing him a massive favour. He'll get a better person and therefore better results.

... what everyone else said, plus I'm sure OP can afford to pay something... so why not ? there's no reason not to, just because its "an experience" doesn't mean you can't pay something at least ....

"Sorry, I can't come for a joyride and dinner I need to backup and download the footage from today ready for tomorrow ... "

Well the obvious answer to that is by definition an amateur doesn't get paid at all - they create their own work for their own enjoyment and not a client.

What's being presented here is more along the lines of a commission. There is a specific task and output. If you had no volunteers and wanted someone to complete the task, £300/day is about the minimum you would find for someone with the competent equipment and skills.

As a paid job, the opportunity is brilliant. As unpaid work, it's lots of work for very little return, even as far as portfolio building goes.

I don't regard it as being so bad with the OP, as he's just a private individual looking for something for himself, but this really is a perpetual annoyance when people want it for business purposes.

Show this comic to any photographer or artist you know (probably quite a few "service provision" types also) and watch them get an eye twitch:

Well, you can define amateur and pro either by quality of work, or how much they get paid. The two are not always linked. A good amateur can do better quality work than a bad pro if the former is talented and the latter a good salesman.

In this case I'd say a pro does it for a living - so has to charge a living rate - and an amateur has a dayjob so can do it for beer money if he wishes.
