Anyone know the best place to sell my old SLR? (I'm in Northampton)
Went to jessups today to get an idea on their 2nd hand stock, and they dont buy old stuff anymore
Ebay auction prices seem a little inconsistent

Can anyone suggest other places?

Think e-bay is the best place. Just check a few others and think of a price you'll be happy with, then set the reserve at 10-20% lower than that.

If it goes over the reserve, then it will usually go past your prefered price too.

A shop or other outlet in which you could sell it would offer you far less than they could sell it for, and that sale price is likely to be the price you could obtain on e-bay.

Unless of course its tat that no-one wants!

If you don't need the cash my advice would be not to sell it.Apparently(allegedley) old SLR values will increase as they become collectors items so I would suggest selling at this time is probably the wrong time

Unfortunately, I need to fund the new digi camera, so even though paying £700, 10 years ago for for something which is now worth £75 odd seems criminal to sell it,
It is just sitting under the bed waiting for a very rainy day.

I have some really great old Nikon gear. I cannot bear to sell it as it won't fetch much. It is just so well made I doubt that I will ever part with it. It has a tremendous sentimental value too. Interesting point about the collector's item...I'm sure that by the time mine is worth somewhere near what I paid for it, I'll have gone past caring*

Grab a copy of Amateur Photographer magazine and have a look at the advertisements in the back, there are always companys saying they will buy gear, I haven't got a copy handy so don't know whether there are any near you but you may be able to judge a price from the adverts that list s/h gear for sale.

newbie here

KP professional at Cambridge might take it if it is suitable. Otherwise Ebay it with a sensible reserve. I have sold all my film camera's and lenses via ebay and received reasonable/good prices. Not too much hassle.
I have kept my xpan and have just bought a 30mm lens for it from ebay at a sensible price.
In my humble opinion you will have to wait a long time to see a increase in values as "collectables there is so much out there.
Hope film is still available if you keep it.

The other problem will be if you can find any pro labs to process the film

Stopping production of APS globally and sales of 35mm cameras in Europe and US, will still be producing 35mm hardware for developing markets and 35mm disposables for all.
