Not brilliant weather for airshow photography today.

Nice, I like the lone Lancaster shot.

Is the fighter with the larger tail a Hurricane? (The wings look similar to those of a BF109 in the first shot, but the tail doesn't. scratchchin ) braces self for onslaught of insults

Supraman, what were you flying in?

I'm a few hundred metres from Shoreham Airport and have been rushing out to the balcony with the binoculars each time something went out/came back. Lots of interesting stuff!

I wasn't

I was standing on the cliffs at Beachy Head.

Ooh, is that a Typhoon or a Tempest?

Lost some of my plane spotting knowledge.

If you mean the aircraft above the red jet pic then it's a Spit. Mk.XVIII if memory serves...

Just looked at my WWII fighters book ( nerd ) and its not a Tempest or Typhoon as the intake is directly behind the propellor.

Was the canopy not built into the fuselage in the later Spitfires then?
