Regarding the surfing, IIRC, Laird Hamilton was the chap enlisted to coordinate and take the part of Bond in the opening sequence for Die Another Day - rubbish film, but top notch stunts.

Another useless fact, the surf sequence was filmed on 'Jaws' in Hawaii, one of the most dangerous waves on the planet.
